This is great. Well done to the organisers.

Loneliness and the feeling of being unloved are terrible things to experience. So happy to read this.

They should use the theme song from the original Breakfast Club. It's rather fitting for seniors whose memory might not be what it used to be.

It's a great idea, this club. A good way to stimulate their minds and get involved.

Laughing at people with dementia/alzheimer's less so.

Loneliness and the feeling of being unloved are terrible things to experience.

"Cooking, eating and talking with others will provide an opportunity (for seniors) to find friends who can support each other.

As a single person who has breakfast alone every day (except for occasional brunches with friends or when on holidays), I can vouch for the fact that doing so does not mean that I am lonely or feel unloved or find it a terrible experience. I don't look at breakfast as an opportunity for a support group experience.

In addition, I often eat lunch or dinner alone both in restaurants and at home. Again, I find nothing negative in dining solo. I am utterly content in my own company--sometimes more so than times when I join others who make a shared meal a disagreeable experience.

For people who prefer to join others to eat, fine. No problem. It's nice if they have an opportunity to do so. However, let's not imply that every person over a certain age who eats alone is a pitiable creature.

Great post philly, couldn't agree more.

Well said, philly. I prefer coffee with people rather than an actual meal. Too many people I know talk and eat at the same time, so I have to dodge projectiles of carrots and other what not. Besides, their breath starts to stink by the 2nd course. Then there are those times when food goes down the wrong pipe, and when the hacking begins, the date I once put on a pedestal looks all too human. Oh, and surprise, somebody in the group is a vegetarian, which makes just finding a suitable restaurant unpleasant. Yeah, eating with others is waaaaay overrated.

Besides, I'm sure a lot of these "lonely" elderly are having fun by themselves playing fortnite or Call of Duty.

Yeah, this glossification of "old people" is pretty annoying. You all are going there, right? If you are lucky to be old!

Eggs benedict sound good.
