Skymark pilots to be monitored following litany of complaints

Most pilots come from Mexico and Australia. I have seen many of them legless many times in pubs in Meguro and Shinagawa.

Actually most of their pilots are US, Spanish, British. Although there are some from the countries you mention they are not as you claim "most".

And honestly l wouldnt entirely go and blame all this on the pilots. As the company and management have a very bad name when it comes to safety and breaching rules.

Many people, including myself, have never had any problems with Skymark. They offer far more reasonably-priced flights than ANA or JAL who like to rape you and your wallet for a simple domestic flight...

Suprising as some of the pilots are X JAL, I would chech the complainers, maybe the competition seting it up.

Cletus. I agree. The landing techniques used by non Japanese pilots are to save fuel. But the Japanese landing rules are completely different than that of the rest of the world.

Back in the day, I went out partying wtih some Japanese JAS pilots. They drank solidly until 4am, even though the first flight was at 8:00...an friend and I took the flight with them (in the cockpit, guests were allowed in back then) and we both had turns steering the jet...ahhh the nineties!! I think the airlines are far more disciplined these days!

skymark would not get bailed out by the j gov if they went bankrupt. you know who's side the j gov is on. it is very easy to hide these things if you are JAL or ANA

@shanabelle: I agree. When I was a kid I remember that I was in the cockpit and the captain let me steer a 747 on the runway. Good times!

skymark reminds me that the terrible bus accident on kan-etsu highway which killed 7 passengers the other day.

I shared an apartment with one of these SM pilots, so I think I know what I am talking about. He and a few others were working illegally on 90 day tourist visas. Of course they got caught and their wives had to come into Japan and clear their apartments. What a lot of surprises they got!!

Think about it. ANA literally flipped a plane over, dropped about 10,000ft in mere seconds and those guys don't have this happening to them. Who's observing them?

Wow! Proactive! Better this than after a crash and stating they have a history of safety violations... Perhaps people ARE learning??

Like others I'm guessing that JAL and ANA are experiencing no similar observations, and won't ever, due to their size (of their pockets).

In the 90's I done a lot of seriously hard drinking with Air New Zealand pilots - many of them had flights within 8 hours of the time we said good night - in a very drunken state !
