Great. How much are these corporations willing to pay for the multi-billion dollar facilities? Or are they going to let taxpayers foot the bill and just reap profits off advertising and product marketing. I would love to see someone do a story on how much a Tokyo Games would cost taxpayers.

Gee. Mizuno are corporate sponsers.

Surprise. Not.

FYI readers: Masato Mizuno is the former chairman of Mizuno Corp (sports goods manufacturers) and a Japan Olympic Committee Vice President. And - the CEO of Tokyo 2020.

Corruption at its worst.

Oh sorry. Forgot. We are talking about Japan.

Er, is this the Mizuno the Sportswear maker that would probably benefit from the sports exposure, or a completely different Mizuno like a builder or something that has no link whatsoever to sports? Ooops no, you mention it IS a sports goods manufacturer so them sponsoring a sports event actually makes sense, right? Or are we all missing something very obvious that I can't quite put my finger on? Or are we talking about Japan????

Well, since the Olympics benefit mainly corporations, the more the bigger, this article shouldn't be all that surprising.

Japan Inc. is not doing 'me-too' support. Only Toyota from Auto makers now. Where are the electronic giants mega companies? More than other countries but it seems that Olympic is no longer important events. Too too costly.

Slow down, folks... these companies are sponsors of Tokyo's bid campaign, not the games themselves. Sponsorship of the games is another issue altogether.

No Miso "Or are we all missing something very obvious that I can't quite put my finger on?"

Masato Mizuno , former Chairman of Mizuno Coy (sports goods) is Japan Olympic Committee VP, and CEO of. Tokyo 2020.

JohnBecker- yes. This is still in the bidding stage. Agree.

Mizuno have been •MAJOR• sponsors for Japan at many previous Olympic Games though.

Called "networking" by them.

"Corruption" by the populace.

Stinks.

Wow - so odd that a sports apparel manufacturer would want to be a sponsor and associated with the games. Why would you think that is? Do you think there are some synergies there? But lets be specific, what EXACTLY is the corruption that you perceive and alledge?
