Right, one of about 200 people that actually gained refugee status that year? SO these services are for those who have official status alone? If that's the case, it's just lip service and trying to make it look like Japan "cares"

Cripes, can't translators do a better job! Folks from foreign countries that come here are human too, we dont come out of the ground, we dont live in caves, your translations are discriminatory at best!

Do they all have the JLPT 1? Are they all "highly skilled" or "highly educated" ? I doubt it! SO these folks can slide under the carpet because why? BS I call on the other articles about skilled labor!

Japan is using these Vietnamese as indentured servants because conditions in their own country are so bad that they are willing to come here, illegally or otherwise.

About a decade ago, the Japanese officials looked at the Vietnamese as being the most suitable people, if Japan were to have anything close to an immigration policy. They look similar to Japanese, the culture is not at odds with Japanese mores, like Islamic societies, and they tend to value hard work and education.

However, they're finding out that large-scale immigration is a heck of a lot more challenging and complicated than that.

I think you need to understand Japanese society a bit more if you think that it has a problem with Islam. There have been Muslims in Japan for nearly 2 centuries, along with Christians, and just about all other religions represented here.

What I think you mean to say is the radical Islamic believers, as the religion is not the problem.

Yunbaru, there were less than 20 people given asylum status last year. It’s kind of easy to understand when you consider Japan is one big asylum to begin with.
