Tokyo Electric Power Co President Toshio Nishizawa on Sunday apologized for causing "trouble, pain and worry to residents living in the vicinity of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, people in Fukushima Prefecture and society at large."
Nishizawa, who refused to meet with reporters on the first anniversary of the March 11 disaster, made the apology during a visit to the stricken plant on Sunday afternoon, TBS reported.
TEPCO employees observed a moment of silence at 2:46 p.m., the time the earthquake struck. Nishizawa then gave a speech which was broadcast to over 150 employees and officials at TEPCO's headquarters in Tokyo.
The embattled TEPCO president urged employees to keep the feelings of the victims etched in their hearts and minds hile working together to prioritize safety, TBS said.

Apology not accepted. Speak with actions and maybe your apology will be more palatable. Furthermore, it is not (only) Nishizawa who should be apologizing, but the crooked old geezers who ran the criminal organisation before he took the helm.

More hot air from irrelevant ojisan not aware of what is happening on the ground.

Maybe he should take some of his own advice and quit lying to the employees, the residents living in the vicinity of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, people in Fukushima Prefecture and society at large

only took a year. tepco should have been put into bankruptcy and wages, pension and salaries should have been cut like with jal.

Yeah this means continue with the delay tactics in paying out, coz we at tepco dont give a shit how the victims feel.
Hollow words from hollow people, this scum really needs a lesson in decency.
Disillusioned
The people of Fukushima don't need your bloody apology! They need you to start shelling out some cash so they can rebuild their lives!

$$$??? ¥¥¥¥??? My guess just PR tactics and the only thing the Tokyo Electric cares about is money and not our lives, not our health!!

not accepted.

One year after the plant is still spreading radioactivity
There will be more victims of the spreading radioactivity.
People are still living in temporary dwelling and will never be able to return home
What is Tepco doing to help these people?
Cricky
It's news because until now TEPCO has said little except lies, now another hollow lie to conform to conformity. Actions speak louder than words, precious little of either from TEPCO.

The PR stunt would have maybe worked if Toshio Nishizawa had for instance brought his kids along, ]to share a meal with the fukushima kids. Then may be he would have lunch with the Fukushima 50 amidst flashing journalists cameras. In the evening, he could organise a clean up exercise, where he actively participates in fatigue gear. Then he could crown it off with a speech, a signed checque in hand to pay off the nuclear refugees, ressettle them, and a new energy business plan to slowly turn away from nuclear energy to other energy sources. Otherwise, surfacing smartly dressed like havard professor, in an air-conditioned limosine, read a short speech for 2 mins, then whisked off to safety VIP style does not make any sense. It would have been better not to say anything at all.

Made an apology to the people affected by the meltdown by broadcasting a speech to 150 Tepco employees. Wow. This guy doesn't even bother to pretend to be sincere. What a jerk.

The apology might be good but the victims need their life back. Since that area is not suitable for living conditions for decades, dismantle that nuke plant and build re-usable energy powered by Solar Panels on that radiation affected areas . Lease or buy the lands from the victims/owners so they can start their life somewhere from the lease or sales. SOFTBANK think tanks are constructing re-usable and friendly energy in Kyoto with the use of Solar panels. If Softbank can think of that , why can't Tepco.

Interesting idea to use the contaminated area for solar power. One of the more creative I've heard of. Guess that means TEPCO won't think of it. Even when they knew they had 8 hours before the pumps failed they did nothing. The wrong people are in charge. Instead of apologizing retire and get out of the way.

The TEPCO Pres apology is just lip service ‘Fukushima Fifty’ workers speak out: If you blamed Tepco for symptoms, told not to come back , 5,000 CPM internal radiation “None of them trust anything TEPCO or gov’t says”
