You have all reasons to feel that way. You have been lied too much, too long since the 3/11. Once the trust is lost, it is very hard to earn it back.

It's time to seal off the area up to the proposed limits initially suggested by the US. I believe it was an 80km radius? It's obvious TEPCO and the government have no idea what to expect. What's the old saying? "It's better to be safe than sorry." I think like many proverbs here, they got it backwards and/or twisted. "It's　better to say sorry, than be safe." かな？

They will have problems for a long time and therefore they (tepco/gov) have to establish radiation-pattern-maps that are available online to inform people about the spread and intensity of fallout and contamination.

They are going to start decontamination the no go zone next month, I hope they check for these hotspots before, during and after the contamination cleanup

My local friends tell me that group is not getting proper attention because they are driven by the communist party and have political motives mixed in with their agenda. That's too bad, considering their situation. I wish the political parties could leave politics out of this and put the people first.

Genjuro that is a heartbreaking video, really not cool crying at work. I just do not understand why this situation is not being given an appropriate coverage. Tv are back to food shows, and Newspapers celebrities marrying,WTF CHILDREN ARE GOING TO DIE. Japan you have been judged by you own actions...I remove the victim card, you did it to your own.

Maybe you can start a petition to extend the No Go Zone so ( that video is heart wrenching ) that the J Govt will have to listen to the people.

That seems to be the reading for 3rd July, probably inside the control room. No data for the last month, it appears. Perhaps they've all gone for a long summer holiday.

The people in that video want the government to declare the evacuation so they can get compensated to relocalte etc. (to which they are arguably entitled to if things are as bad they allege).

However to sit and stew in the alleged pool of cesium and isotopes and to force your children to do the same goes against the idea of wanting to save your children. The message in the video is less about saving the children and more about having the government make the evacuation declaration. Pure pollitics.

That's the thing those people want answers and action from their Govt. which is their right. They pay taxes, they support their Govt and the JGovt's job is to govern. Public health and safety, National security are not just words. The J Govt scares me. They have had nuclear expert advisors who chose to resign, because the advice given was not taken seriously enough really. That's scray.

Threw no fault of theirs they now live in a toxic environment, the exclusion zone is too small! Has been all along. The mishandling and mis-information invite universal ridicule. Crisis management!!! There is no crisis! Oppps that's a lot of dead people....

A few facts for the uninformed.

1) They say "exceeded 10 sieverts per hour" because 10 sieverts is the maximum reading on their device. This is reported in other news articles.

2) There is no contradiction between the duct being completely sealed and there being massive radiation detected. 99% of people really don't know the first thing about radiation but talk like they do. There is a huge difference between sealing radioactive particles (which they claim to have), and the radiation that those particles emit (i.e. the gamma rays being emitted). The particles will continuously generate radiation until depleted and it's several magnitudes worse if they are free than if they are trapped. 10 sieverts per hour is alarming, but nothing compared to if the particles were being spread across Fukushima.

I agree that, if the material isn't mobile, it isn't a new threat. But I am curious why this was just found. I too have images of TEPCO with duct tape running through my mind. They've got a bad situation but they seem to be making it worse. I don't think we've turned the corner on this one yet.
