SURE; why NOT ?

WHAT could HAPPEN ?

It’s not so much structural as it is about aerodynamics. The mouth of the tunnel is designed as to deflect the huge high pressure wave created at the exact point the train enters the tunnel. Air is deflected to a larger area when outside the tunnel and suddenly that space is constructed. I think the tests have to do with that.

Typo: constricted

What's the hurry? Get an earlier train.

The Hokkaido Shinkansen is a rare project that does not have a completion date of 2020 - the Olympic Year.

Ahh, yes, the magical marketing tagline for JR East.....

"Tokyo to Hokkaido by Shinkansen in under 4 hours!"

Jokes aside, but if you've never taken the ride, you have no justification in criticizing it. Aomori to Hakodate, little side-tours easily made thanks to JR, and what do you get? Nice experiences.

So for 3 minutes, it is possible fast transport and trade to Hokkaido will be totally stopped for months?

Is it worth all of the hassle, cost and disturbance for 3 minutes on a 4 hour journey?
