When I arrived at Kansai a few years ago, my young daughter's bag was nowhere to be found.

We shopped for new clothes and essentials for her before the bag was finally delivered to us at home some two and a half days later. Maybe not lost, but not there when we arrived..

Fair enough - it could easily have been the airline's fault, or that of a transitting airport, and if it turns up late it isn't technically lost...

Me too. They delivered a suitcase to me like 2-3 days later. Probably the airlines' fault though.

For those who claimed they lost the baggage, any proof?

Anyone can say that, even my 3 yr old niece.

NGT, a missing suitcase, or wrongly tagged at dpt a/p, you never saw the suitcase again. I travelled extensively in my working days, only stuff I nearly lost got tagged wrongly and did not unload from the plane. Typically a landline phone call from a/p to my reg. office no. we got some baggage returned from Perth, Adelaide .... whatever

If it’s nothing special why is it news?

Permanently lost, maybe, but temporarily lost? They've done it plenty. I've never had it happen to me because I usually only do carry-on, buy my partner had a bag misplaced and it took a few days to be sent to us, and a friend who traveled here from the US just last month had her suitcase misplaced and she had to get it when she went to Tokyo.

Dubious claim at best.

First of all, we have to trust that what they say is true and they have full and accurate data on baggage

being 'lost' or not. What does loss even mean? How would you even determine that something is 'lost' and if it's lost, where did it end up? Under the couch or in a gap between the walls?!

What airport keeps such records anyway?

I have never heard of anyone losing baggage permanently, though I'm sure it happens in some massive airports like Heathrow or JFK or something.

Meh, sounds like bull pucky to me.

Where's the proof and how could you prove such a thing anyway - 'look see no records of lost baggage'
