The Tohoku shinkansen returned to normal operations between Tokyo and Shin-Aomori on Friday for the first time since the March 11 disaster.
JR East said that the train now stops as usual in Sendai, Fukushima, Morioka and Shin-Aomori after repairs were completed on the line, and power restrictions were lifted. The journey takes 3 hours, 10 minutes.
At each major station along the route, local government and tourism officials were on hand to welcome disembarking passengers, NHK reported. Many local governments in the Tohoku are counting on the restoration of the service to revive their economies.

Cool! I can not wait to jump on this bullet train and go up north! I love the Japanese bullet trains!

Wasn't this already fully operational? I was just there this past July and went to Tokyo a total of 4 times using the Shinkansen. The journey was about 1hr 45 minutes. I remember coming back to Sendai and the train would go further to Aomori. Oh well. Guess it could only make it better :)

It was running a little slower than usual until recently, but all of the stations were open.

I want more Hayabusa services, it would be nice if it were like Nozomi where you can get non-reserved seats.
