Two reactions: underground would indeed seem to be the safest space.

Halting the trains serves a larger purpose: inconvenience and scare people just enough so they will begin to support whatever military and constitutional changes the government proposes.

I would think the subway is where you'd want to be if a NK missile headed towards Tokyo

Which group or individual issued this order ?

They should be sacked ....

Recent evidence would suggest that the chance of NK hitting any  city (country??) it targets is pretty low.  best they can do is fire artillery shells at Seoul.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind that directive came through government channels. Inconvenience the general public and anger them in the direction you want them to go. It's shamefully obvious! If Japan doesn't have an anti missile defence system to stop a single rocket produced by a sanctioned, bankrupt and starving third world country then the populous needs to be asking some serious questions to its government and the US military based here to protect it. We all know they have the systems in place to stop anything NK can send so this is pure fear mongering to serve a government agenda, namely changing the constitution so Japan can head down the same road it did 70 years ago. Almost just enough time has elapsed for memory of those horrific times to have faded for the resurgence of a war mongering empire. And who will pay the ultimate price? The Japanese folk of course as they did the last time. As always, the greedy few toss everyone else into the fire except themselves, of course which allows them to produce another generation of the same fanatics to repeat history once agian!

This guy should be taken down before he starts a War!

Wrong! If KJI is assassinated, then a war might come out right away. NK would have to be the ones to make a first strike, as any other country shouldn't (and won't) be the one to start WW3. In the event of war, then the assissination attempts will ensue because then the case will be seen as KJI started it all.

Build fear into the hearts and people will be more inclined to militarize the country.

Was it to protect the Trains by hiding them in the tunnels at the expense of Japan's citizens

same case with Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi

Indeed the brainwashing propaganda is running high...all the the govt's mouthpieces Media are actively screaming the same message in a loop like street speakers will do in a fascist country.

Little Kim is so convenient a bogeyman as any!

if any country wishes to increase defense spending, has an agenda to push all they have to do is to mention North Korea.

However, the media loves to make fun of his haircuts and demonise him. There is a little more to him than that.

Kim Jong-un,educated in Switzerland and fluent in English has a love of American basketball as well as being an avid game player,

These facts are never mentioned because to so would go some way to humanizing him and that is not

a characteristic that lends itself to vilification

He is more open than his father or grandfather and has pursued reforms,

i am not suggesting perfection but II am suggesting that he makes a useful and convenient scapegoat....

fear mongering to match an agenda, nothing more. Hope people can see through it...

I knew the NHK was a 100% propaganda arm of the LDP but not the Tokyo train system as well. Did not know that.

If you go to SK they do not pay any attention to what NK says or does as 99.9 percent of the time ii is just bluster. But in Abe propaganda land the media is hyped up, why, so he can change the constitution to suit his rightwing regressive views. The trains did not stop in SK for a failed missile launch. Only in Japan.

Zucronium - totally agree.

This was a well mapped and played out ploy by the Admin., to keep the populace "nervy".

eg - the debate on changing the constitution and article nine ( to keep us safe)

     - the deployment of a warship with much fanfare to protect a US supply ship (to keep us safe)

     - the fake "batten down the hatches" fear mongering, on news of a NK missile test (to keep us safe)

Too many coincidences in a few days to not be part of a plan to push a pro-military agenda, whereby the winners will be the War Industries with sales in the $billions & $billions.

And Abe Inc will score points from the less truly informed, who believe that they (A. Inc) are saving them.

"Tokyo Metro said Tuesday it has decided not to halt train services in response to media reports of ballistic missile launches by North Korea, just days after the subway operator did so and drew criticism."

Uhhh... because it was an incredibly stupid idea with no effect but to anger people to begin with?

Seriously, please tell me what stopping a train will do even if rockets are actually launched and hit Japan. This is just another propaganda tool to try and stoke anger towards NK and get Japan to change the Constitution; it's a simple misdirection tactic. Get the people riled up, then introduce the enemy (NK), then propose a plan to "address it" by changing the Constitution so that you can attack them.

As crazy, lunatic, ridiculously looking that NK fatso does, I am pretty sure he is very much aware that all the things he had done are pretty much annoying and a joke and his military and himself would be totally wiped out in the chance a war breaks out. The best will be just go on as nothing. Just do not care what he does and ignore him.

I think you lot give the government far too much credit. Tokyo Metro see it was an over-reaction and have changed it - end of story. So if you experts are right how come they were able to just change it, according to you should that not have been possible since "that directive came through government channels", "all the the govt's mouthpieces" and they want to "Build fear into the hearts and people"

What puzzles me is why the World allows this "Creep" running North Korea to stay alive? This guy should be taken down before he starts a War!
