Tokyo Metropolitan Government revamps website

With an eye toward attracting more foreign visitors to Tokyo in preparation for the 2020 Olympics, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has revamped its website (foreign language versions).

In addition to providing information to the non-Japanese residents of Tokyo in English, Korea and Chinese, the new website now also provides people overseas with easy-to-understand information about the appeal of Tokyo as a destination for tourism, business, and investment.

There are four categories -- About Our City, Guide for Residents, Business and Things to Do.

Two videos about traditional culture, foods and sightseeing spots are also available.

The website can also be easily viewed on smartphones and tablets.

This is part of the government aiding capital in its desire to use the Olympic spectacle requiring big, costly infrastructure projects to amass greater private wealth at public expense, when it should be working on reshaping the city for the benefit of the many and not the few.

Also, if we compare the Japanese and other language sections, especially the "guide for residents", it's clear that foreign residents are treated mainly as temporary guests and not as immigrants who have made Japan their permanent home and want the same up-to-date information (or disinformation) as the locals.

Providing world class, relevant service.

There's even a link for "The Tokyo Metropolitan Government's website of the Senkaku Islands"

Permanent residents would just read the Japanese section.

Don't see what the problem is.
