It would be very informative to make a study from a significant population sample.

Hope somebody does it.

that's about 1 positive out of every 6 or 7 tested.

717 tests?

Why bother testing!

good question

Is that a new record low?

It is the lowest number of tests since June 28, where 569 tests were conducted in Tokyo with 60 confirmed positive results.

I recommend using this site for data relating to the covid pandemic in Japan, it has a large amount of data for every prefecture as well as nationwide:

My 80 year old feeble aunt is quarantined in the States with coronavirus and she has no severe symptoms. I feel relieved.

My Grandmother got it and kicked it. Praying for your Aunt. Please keep us informed.

Yesterday Angela Merkel, President of Germany, said that Japan is one of the best examples how to handle and contain the Virus.

Germany should learn from Japan.

I want to post a link to that news, but it is just in german language.

Perhaps there were so few tests because so few had symptoms. It is possible.

What is wrong with that woman?

She may be a well informed highly educated very intelligent person, but this is Japan, nothing they do here can possibly be right

Thanks, unfortunately it doesn't say anything about why she thinks Japan is exemplary, especially compared to other countries that clearly defeated the virus (so far). It just mentions something about old people.

Correct interpretation !

Perhaps she can't compare Japan with countries that "clearly defeated" the virus.

Perhaps she is struggling to put the words defeated and hiding in lockdown in the same sentence

Covid-19 data. From the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

https://stopcovid19.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/en/

Evolution of the total number of people hospitalized in Tokyo Prefecture. In the last 5 days.

Saturday, October 31st: 943.

Sunday, November 1st: 1013.

Monday, November 2nd: 1031.

Tuesday, November 3rd: 1024.

Wednesday, November 4th: 1040.

Mild-moderate and Serious symptoms data. They are already included in the total number of people hospitalized. It should also be remembered that data on severe symptoms are already reflected in the Japan Today article. And there is no need to mention them again in the comments.

As you can see. The number of people hospitalized is increasing. In these last days. Reaching over 1000 hospital admissions for Covid.

It had been two weeks since that figure had been exceeded for so many days. This means that there has been a small increase in daily infections. Although it is a very slight increase. And it's not worrying either. For now.

We have to follow this data, in detail.

Angela Merkel is the chancellor of Germany, not the president. She didn't get into detail what's so good about Japan's response but she might mean the cluster detection and focus on avoiding superspreading events. These are the only things which also got praised by German virologists. It's surely not the low number of tests...

It’s really of no use to compare countries. There are too many specific things to be considered. The spectrum goes from location, climate over population’s behavior to several virus’ types distribution. Just to name only a few here.
