The Tokyo metropolitan government on Friday reported 136 new cases of the coronavirus, down by 75 from Thursday. Of the total, 77 are in their 20s and 30s.

The number is the result of 5,400 tests conducted on Sept 1.

The tally brought Tokyo's cumulative total to 21,475.

The number of infected people with severe symptoms is 28, one more than Thursday, health officials said.

Nationwide, the number of reported cases was 579. After Tokyo, the prefectures with the most cases were Kanagawa (108), Osaka (74), Chiba (35), Fukuoka (34), Aichi (33), Okinawa (28), Saitama (24) and Kyoto (24).

The day before yesterday they got 141positives from a total of 956 tests.

Now we got almost the same number from a total of 5,400 tests.

Call me paranoiac and conspiranoid... but the numbers do not match to me.

Any number even an increase is ok for me as long as there is no really big jump

The downward trend continues.

5400 tests and only 136 cases? When the other day there were 900 tests but the same number infected?

That shouldn’t raise eyebrows.

To confuse people, they decided to publish the current day's infection number next to tuesday's test number.

@Monty. Percentages.

Number doesn't decrease. It seems to me 1-2 hundred people are infected every day until people have good vaccine or herd immunity, then number decreases.

Anyway, weather should cool down soon. What will it bring, more, or less, infection?

People would be spending more time indoors nearer other people but more people should be back to wearing masks also.

Also I guess when it gets really cold people would be washing hands less

I think the most people will be cramming the clinics when winter comes. Its still summer so you dont expect to catch any cold symptoms unless your immune system is compromised and you slept last night with the AC running 18celcius in a 4 tatami mat room. That being said, just wait to see how frenetic it will get once everyone in the winter starts having the snizzles. Everyone going to jump to you know what conclusion.

Infection rate is 2.5% today, lower than yesterday but still high, especially compared to most of Europe.

Please explain your maths.

(9/1 ~ 9/4)

Infection rate numbers have no correlation whatsoever.

6.5%, 14.7%, 3.8%, 2.5%

But the infected raw numbers are very homogeneous

170, 141, 211, 136

Its pretty clear now we aren't going to see a sudden increase under the current conditions, its time to try relaxing restrictions a little more

What ever the numbers are....You chose to belive what the reality is. I think this coronovirus is really not a threat at all. I am living proof and everyone of of you Jtoday readers are also living proof and its been over 10 months since this virus panic. Im still alive walking around the streets no once infected so it questions me how infectious this virus is.
