I reckon the J gov kind of got this one right. Very few cases now. Limited cost to tax payers.

Looking at the breakdown of the tests shows the cases are spread all over Tokyo and not just in clusters. Tokyo is taking this way too lightly. Keep your distance people.

Does the corona-related deaths include over 90y.o. and suicides?

The other major prefectures are testing at a fraction of what Tokyo is testing and leaving Tokyo in the spotlight. It is a never ending. By now it is very clear there is aversion towards testing, the image that the nation has done better has to be maintained at all cost. Imagine two hundred test being done daily and it returns 5,000 positives it won't be good for national moral.

7 day average nationally has been dead flat at around 500 since August 30.

7 day average nationally has been dead flat at around 500 since August 30.

Indeed, the situation nationally appears to have stabilized as of the end of September at around 5000 active cases, with about 150 critically ill patients at any given time, and around 6 deaths per day. This is based on around 16000 tests nationally per day.

On one hand, it is good news that the situation appears to be stable; however, on the other hand the situation appeared similarly stable in June, at much better numbers. Stability does not mean the virus has magically become inactive. I sincerely hope the powers that be in Japan have serious contingencies in place around the proposed easing of prevention measures and the overall messaging, because, if there is a spike at a similar exponent as we saw at the end of June it could be a very bad Winter.

Citation for above.

Numbers spiking a little in places like Osaka and Hokkaido, which is not ideal and numbers are up overall.

The only bright spot at the moment is that there are now 6 prefectures with no active cases and a further 13 have less than 10 active cases.

We are doing almost as good as North Korea.

When we get to zero cases we'll be as good as them.
