Through September and October the Government found the sweet spot of tests to 'normalize' 200 cases a day. My guess is now they'll increase testing sufficiently so that the people get accustomed to 500 daily cases.

Covid Olympics have to happen.

The entire island of Japan about the size of California and Tokyo being reported as 215 cases is like California reporting that there were only 215 cases in L.A or 2 cases in LA and 5 cases in scaramento and 20 cases in oakland.

Why not only just enjoy the still lower numbers while we and all our Japanese friends and citizens still can? Are you only satisfied and really happier if the numbers explode exponentially here too like in all of our home countries, are you sick?

5000 tests is bugger all..

As long this thing doesn't result on deaths, the number of tests made is irrelevant.

Let's suppose 1 million people are infected, still this number doesn't change the fact that number of deaths are lower than many developed countries.

Deaths happen for many reasons, which the primary one is the lack of immunity and low level of vitamin D and C and second reason may be spiritual(for those who are Christians). For some their mission in the Earth was already fulfilled and they were assigned to next mission to please the Divinity.

It is sad seeing news about it, but instead of worry about our end, what about worry about what we should do for our neighbor and for those who need us?

Covid-19 data. From the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

https://stopcovid19.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/en/

Number of hospitalized people reported yesterday: 973.

Number of hospitalized people reported today: 943.

Day-over-day change: -30 persons

Mild-moderate and Serious symptoms data. They are already included in the total number of people hospitalized. It should also be remembered that data on severe symptoms are already reflected in the Japan Today article. And there is no need to mention them again in the comments.

Patients hospitalized by COVID in Tokyo Prefecture, per 100,000 inhabitants. Saturday 24/10/2020 was: 6,78.

Patients hospitalized by COVID in Tokyo Prefecture, per 100,000 inhabitants. Today Saturday 31/10/2020 is: 6,76.

Compared to last Saturday. The rate of people hospitalized for coronavirus, per 100,000 inhabitants in Tokyo Prefecture. It has been reduced by 0,02 points.

In this week. It seems that the downward trend has been halted. Regarding the total number of people hospitalized for coronavirus, in Tokyo Prefecture.

It is still too early to have signs of an upsurge in coronavirus infection. But given what is happening in Europe and the US. Nor would the beginning of the great second wave in Tokyo Prefecture be out of the question.

Next week's data will be crucial.

And how about the long-haulers? The numerous long lasting side effects, which include e.g. heart issues, lung issues, cognitive issues, loss of hearing, loss of taste, loss of smell, hair loss, skin issues, fatigue, etc? These can occur even in the 'mild' cases, and you should know by now asymptomatic people are also spreading this virus. Therefore the number of tests, i.e. knowing the actual number of cases and how it spreads, would be highly relevant.

Vinke, doesn't mater how many tests it was made, the result that we should focus is the number of deaths and recovering. If in the worst scenario we have 1 million infected, the fact that this "number" were not resulted in million deaths says a good thing. The percentage of people that get the virus "1 million" who die is fewer than we could imagine. Plus if among those "1 million" a good number were those who had lung problems and still overcame it, so it is a good reason to have hope because by your logical thinking they are suppose to die, but they end up recovering from it. If we keep in mind that among "1 million infected" less than 1% died, the percentage of recovering from it is more than we could imagine.

I feel sorry for those who died, but at same time rejoice that thousands of thousands recovered from it.

Exactly!!! I would add that the number of hospitalized people have being this number for long time what in comparison to many countries in Europe and North America is very low. People complain about testing that is not enough, but even if the number of test were twice than it is made in Tokyo, such number of hospitalized people would not change at all.

People who make comment should understand that whether Japan test 100000 people or not, it would not change the fact that deaths would occur anyway. We don't see the number, but it is very clear that those who are tested the majority of them are fine and only a few present symptoms of such disease. The same would be if Japan had been tested 100000 people. The number of infected could be higher, but the number of people who have to be hospitalized would be the same.

And how do you feel about the hundreds of thousands who haven't fully recovered, and are feeling the effects of covid up to six months later? Coughing, fatigue, troubles breathing etc. Do you consider this recovered yourself?

Koike was in the news the other day proclaiming she intends to lift the testing in Tokyo to 60,000 per day. That is eleven times more than October 28 where they received 215 positive results. Statistically, that could mean there are over 1200 positive results every day. That’s scary!

When will that happen?

Strangerland, I fell sorry, but i have faith that they will recover from it. When I used the verb "rejoice", it doesn't mean I didn't care about those who you mentioned in your comment.
