For the record there are no free walk-in PCR tests. You must be referred (yeah right). Or its Y30,000 private.

It’s always been a balance between containing the virus and going back to work. But this balance has to be evaluated as time passes, how successful or not the policies have been, etc. In my opinion, I’m not sure if many governments are really looking at this balance recently.

For about every 22 tests, about 21 will be negative and 1 will test positive.

Is that why there is so little testing being done?

The number is the result from 5,486 tests conducted on Aug 26.

Could the moderators clarify this is the total tests conducted, or discreet individuals tested? I believe it is the former, with discreet individuals tested being closer to 4,775 for August 26, according to the metropolitan stop covid website.

As a disclaimer, I am not making any argument either way as to the state of the pandemic, I am merely trying to clarify the reporting.

@toasted. It’s only a gamble if you don’t social distance, don’t wash your hands, don’t rely on paper masks and don’t stay at home you are old or have medical conditions.

I stayed in A place in SE Asia for a couple of months. It was a small community of 7 people. Me and my neighbor in the next bungalow took preventative measures against mosquitoes. We were fine. The other 5 just partied on and got Dengue Fever. 2 almost died.

Sadly it doesn't seem to be that active anymore though, most statements are from 4-6 months ago - perhaps as it hasn't really been advertised.

The daily number likes to float around in the 200s.

I want to go the GYM as i am getting fat from working from home and not being able to lift weights and find time to do any execise. My only motivation to exercise is on GOLDS GYM. Do guys think its safe to be going in out of the gyms since the numbers trending down now?

The bigger news is that active cases fell by over 500 yesterday with over 1300 people across Japan recovering.

The number of active cases has fallen by a 3rd since the 13th of August.

Things are improving. Still a further drop in new cases is needed to keep that trend going.

If your not old, don't have serious medical issues and are lucky enough to still have disposable income for the good of the country please go out and spend.

There are so many businesses suffering, they might be a tiny, tiny,tiny risk you will get sick but if you care about others, now is the time to go out and support.

Fortunately that is not the case. People that have lousy hygiene always try to justify themselves by saying everybody is the same, "I see other people taking dumps and not washing their hands, I am not the only one"

See how deadly is the flu this year, with very strong distancing measures in place. You will see then how you are completely wrong.

This infection manage to be more deadly than the flu, even with those measures in place against the usual situation of the flu, comparing both viruses in the same situation lets you see how hugely different they are.

Thanks for the info. I’m just curious. I would think if someone had symptoms the authorities would want them tested as soon as possible. I wonder if it has become easier to get a test compared to several months ago?

As long as there's a law that puts human rights above all, we'll continue to have normal lives enjoying our freedoms, if someone wants to panic I respect you, but please let the rest of us enjoy life.
