Canada with a lot less population does over 3 to 4 hundred thousand testing across Canada, and so, explain how Japan is comfortable with only 6 thousand plus testing across the country??

6,000 + tests were in Tokyo, not nationwide. To date, 9,242 have died of covid 19 in Canada, in comparison to 1,540 in Japan. So explain, how Canada is comfortable with this outcome? Mere aggressive testing fail to save lives.

I’m glad they are finally including how many tests were carried out. For a city of 16 million people and a greater regional population of 26 million people the number of tests seems quite low. If one was to take this statistic and apply it to the population of the greater Tokyo region the number of new cases could be in the tens of thousands.

They also don’t seem to be tracking the source of each case (or releasing the information). The most new cases are people in their twenties. One could conclude they are getting it from nightclubs or from schools.

Unless Tokyo (or Japan in general) gets tough on controlling this virus they will never be rid of it.

Dr Lucifer(Fallen Angel) what are you worried about all seems to be under control here in Japan. Nice safe country.

Thankfully, hospitals easily handled 500 cases a day in july, thus it can be concluded unless we reach 1000 cases a day in tokyo nothing is going to change.

You are damn right that nothing is going to change because the number of test will always be measured such that not even 500 positive cases are returned.

Why increase tests and ending up getting more positive cases and disproving the narrative that the country has handled the pandemic well thus the low number of infections, image is very important here, it feels good that we are doing better than them.

So are we still doing Doomsday countdown from lack of testing?

For some thats bad, for others thats good.

Eitherway, it is what it is.

Covid-19 data. From the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

https://stopcovid19.metro.tokyo.lg.jp/en/

Number of hospitalized people reported yesterday: 1083.

Number of hospitalized people reported today: 1109.

Difference between yesterday and today: +26

Hospitalized COVID patients in Tokyo Prefecture, per 100,000 population: 7,96

1109 ÷ 13929280 x 100000 = 7,96

Now is when the trial by fire comes. With the arrival of autumn and the end of the silver week. People will start with their normal routine. Let us hope that the coronavirus does not get out of control, and thus avoid the great feared second wave. The one that is affecting southern Europe right now.

For the moment, seeing the current data. They're not a concern.

What’s a Guelp?

Guelph company invented a portable machine that tests for the virus in 90 minutes and has been approved for field testing by Health Canada. When you focus on the problems you find solutions. Funny that

The number of active cases has been decreasing steadily since the beginning of Obon.

This thing is over. I suspect they are trying to rush the vaccine because they are afraid people will realize there will be no second wave...

Not even 3000 people tested (2948). Really need to increase the testing by at least 10x if you want to know the truth and properly handle it

@TetsuB

Good for you if you can keep away from others in restaurants, pubs and stores in this country.

With fall and winter coming up (when respiratory infections invariably increase), with the Go To Travel campaign extended to include Tokyo, and with the Go To Eat, Go To Events, and Go To Shopping campaigns set to be launched, I fear we may be in for a rough ride this winter.

Looking forward to it! And when you do those activities, try to keep away from others, wear a mask and snot into your elbow.

It's odd isn't it, because "...the Tokyo metropolitan government on Monday reported only 98 new cases of the coronavirus, down 64 from Sunday. The number is the result of 2,861 tests conducted on Sept 18...", which was a workday - and coincidentally the Friday before a 4-day weekend.

Voices were insistent that these figures signified fewer cases overall, rather than people not wanting to ruin their hols by getting tested and potentially being told to self-isolate.

Yet on the 23rd, also a workday - and coincidentally the day after this long holiday - there are 270 new cases from 6,452 tests.

I wonder why so few people got tested on the Friday, and so many went in on the Wednesday?

But it’s a hoax and a scam.

Right. keep telling yourselves that.
