Tokyo reports 292 new coronavirus cases

By now, I think everyone in Tokyo has had some form of COVID 19.

Given the method of tabulation is archaic, the sence of speedily doing anything? bueuracrats, that's not going to happen. And remember the complicated parameters that need to be met before said bueuracrats will tick the box for the virus. I'm sure the numbers as usual are smudged after traveling through several layers of hoops passing over different department desks each with its own list of criteria to pass their hoop.

Why even bother saying the numbers are down from Saturday? This is totally reliant on the numbers tested, which always goes down over the weekend. Without knowing how many were tested just saying the numbers are down is both meaningless and misleading.

The symptoms of Covid take about a week to appear. Add in the time to test and get results and I predict we are going to see some serious new peaks later this week as a result of the four day weekend we just had.

That's only because everyone has been filling the parks, riversides and enjoying other outdoor activities and shopping and eating. Therefore, nobody is going to take tests.

I really, really hope I am wrong but I am sure the numbers will go back up mid week.

The weekly trend is psychological warfare. The numbers peak every week on Friday and Saturday, making everyone super cautious on the weekend. Then on Sunday, when everyone is thinking about what to do the following week, the number is halved, letting everyone on Monday morning feel a little better about getting onto a packed train for their commute to work.

What you are saying is lower numbers are good even if the numbers are managed to give a feel-good feeling

Everywhere in the world the numbers of infections increased again.

Japan numbers of cases are not bad. 200, 400, 4000, 40000 in a 14 million population city, are under 0.5%.

No reason to panic!

But, but...I really really hope that Japan keep its borders close, especially now where all over the world the cases increase.

Please Japan, dont import more Corona infections from overseas.

If anyone of you who live here in Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagwa or Saitama and has gone outside to check what an average day looks like, You will know nothings in place to contain the virus and people are spreading it without knowing. Schools are fully open and they can even consider online schooling....because they dont have the infrastructure and capabilities. I had online school back in 1998 on a dial up Modem guys. Every time you leave your home to the groceries store you have a chance to catch the virus... The question is virus soooo deadly than it will kill you in 15 days and is this factor based on age and healthy immune system and certain health alignments. Virus spreads like wild fire. Take you sweet time testing...

My friends whole family had the virus, the only symptoms they had was one day fever, yeah so deadly that they are now back to work after 2 weeks. So does our neighbor, Grandparents, family, and 2nd grader son (5 in all) had been positive, no symptoms but quarantined for 14 days but yes, they have again opened their convenient store and as genki as ever ..so deadly huh? I am shivering in fear. 90% symptomless, 99% recovers, most people who die are people who are unhealthy (uncontrolled diabetes, severe obesity, compromised immune systems like leukemia but please let us not mention that they are also prone to be severely affected by other bacteria, virus, and fungi because it will diminish the fear to the Covid-19). If you are young, healthy, take care, and take all the necessary precautions but go live your lives. Fear is ok, paranoia is not.

Tokyo bed occupancy is now at 69%, up from the 64% I posted somewhere else earlier today, and 57% occupancy rate yesterday.

This, to me, is the statistic to look out for at the moment

Bed occupancy includes hotel beds, from personal family experience hotel bed occupancy isnt a good indicator.

My nephew spent two weeks in a hotel in tokyo after testing positive, not because he was sick but because he has suggested it by the health authority. Basically, didnt want to to pay for two weeks food and air conditioning.

A better measure of severity is icu occupancy. Which as of yesterday was 83　nationwide the same as june 11 but up 5 from friday

Cases are increasing without a doubt, I am just wishing this doesnt result in more deaths, both for those infected as selfishly for my self, I would like to get back to a normal life sometime this year.

There is a difference between catching the virus and falling sick

No child in japan has died or been admitted to the icu

and so, if other kids are not wearing masks walk away.

Have you heard of any koen clusters? Wearing a mask outside in this weather is unnecessary and dangerous.
