4000 tests. And I bet they truly think they are doing an amazing job. Happy I left recently, tired of a government pulling the wool over their citizen's eyes, and nobody allowed to question. Shoganai culture, amazing.

Well, good for you, I hope to you're in abetter place.

I, for one, am glad that I'm in Japan instead of in my dear country

And I'm quite sure that despite the complaints, many whiners here are also happy that theyre here in a country where testing count is lower than the death counts in their own countries.

We have vaccine now and our government will distribute it soon after the new year.

No, you do not. No Japanese pharmaceutical firms have begun clinical trials yet. You can thank the decades of protectionist govt policies for keeping them as minor global players. No other vaccines have been approved here, and when they eventually are we'll be waaaaay down the list.

Buckle up, the magic isn't coming to your arm for many moons yet.

My " own country" testing levels are a lot higher and death count a lot lower than Japan...

That's great!

Clearly then you're not one of the whiners my post refer to, not sure why you felt compelled to comment

Due to government corruption and trying to loot money from taxpayers from the vaccine, the traditionally protected Japanese vaccine industry won't be able to push out their vaccine until 2022, and currently the government is putting multiple hurdles to the existing non-Japanese vaccines in both approval process and distribution.

Even when the international vaccines become approved likely Q2 of 2021, it will be very limited to a few medical personnel and perhaps Olympics-related people. The general population will have to wait for the Japanese-made vaccine due to hit markets in 2022, tested on only 500 people but will get approval anyways because of government connections.

@Larr Flint

Glad/happy of course used loosely, cant be really happy, knowing the predicament of those back home and everywhere, actually even here

That’s 10% of those tested for the virus testing positive. Most states in the US are at about 5%.

I hope they are not manipulating data: https://www.newsweekjapan.jp/marukawa/2020/05/post-62_6.php

BTW, in S. Korea, 39,995 tests with 880 positives (2.2%) on Tuesday.

If you only need to test 4000 or so individuals, that is fantastic. Wasting testing on people that do not need tests is ridiculous.

Only test those with symptoms possibly induced by Corona.

Think of the millions and hundreds of millions tested in the states and take a percentage of those found infected. It is so small. Get real people, and use logic and math.

By the way, COSTCO was so overcrowded today with cart pushers jamming people back to back. Keep away. Costco could be the next local pump up of contaminated peole. I complained to the managers.

It is colder than Eastern Europe on parts of Honshu today so I expect the number of infected will be up on Wednesday...

At least, the number of cases seems to be coming down each day in Hokkaido, which is a hopeful sign.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Can we have some perspective on this, please? Even though the number of cases is rising, the death rate is falling and try recovery rate is rising..

@Ahley: Testing high numbers of people is a waste of time and resources. That would be like testing everyone's DNA to see if they are female or male. Makes no difference.

This country has it correct and well done in only testing thse with possible symptons. If they miss one or two asymtomatic people a cluster will form.. This is a brilliant strategy.

Hope they have not reduced testing hence the reduction in the number of cases, the testing trend over a period of time has to be looked at before drawing a conclusion.

It’s just a question of time or time shifting. While the sequence is lower here , it’s even lower in some other countries and much higher in again others. It’s just like 0,1,2,4,8 / 2,4,8,16,32 / 8,16,32,64,128 as you may still know from school. But although very different in values at the same point of time data such sequences have the same in common. Guess what...

I DON'T LIKE THOSE NUMBERS

°

World data

°

The death toll number is not high enough.

The virus killed 2% (the number is leveled down and France admit 2,44% death toll) of the infected people in the world, and asia descent in USA are the highest poll number to die. You are more fragile to the virus apparently.

I had the COV1. And normally i am never virus ill. But this one, i was 6 month down without breathing while the always ill around me were fine. And i have asian relative in my ancestry who i took from the most. I do believe the US analysis on the asian death higher toll possibility is true.

°

So, let's check the numbers :

48 000 cases. 480 theoric death toll at minimum is 1% death. Normally, you are around, 1000 deaths.

48 ? Japan would be at 0,1 % death toll. This is not logical and does not fit the virus profile who doesn't go down so low

this is not magic unless japan is hiding a drug to the world, or a resilience to investigate in express.

This would be very serious crime against humanity to refuse or hide data science, we don't have a choice to share the science during those crisis. This is link to the right to sell world wide your product. So unless Japan government have suicide economic wishes, they lie about the numbers.

With these numbers, you don't need the vaccin at 0,1% death toll and no poll on very serious injured after the virus toll since it can make people ill (sometime very seriously) up to 2% . Vaccin was never the obvious solution for this virus even more in Japan.

°

To conclude : this is a scandal !

°

How is the national death toll if you compare to other years ? What crematorium say ? More or less death ? For me, you need to do a little ground investigation. Clearly national health or economy is at rick.

In France, those number help to force the health ministry and doctors to say and report the truth. Before we had fake numbers.

Damn. I guess all that (supposed) superior hand washing and (supposed) superior hygiene must have left on a GoTo Travel trip.

Hopefully we can keep the numbers down if people do not travel over New Years.

Yes, it's such a waste testing and tracing the estimated 80% of mild/asymptomatic cases, unbeknownst to themselves spreading the virus far and wide- better to watch the pennies, or yen, what with the Olympics coming up, which isn't a waste at all...
