Its Monday mate. Its a below 100 cases day, everyone knows that by now. Towards the end of the week is when we have a better ”understanding” of the situation - based on the limited testing numbers of course.

@AG - I'm not your 'mate'and yes, I'm well aware we always have a low number on Monday and Tuesday. Just find it amusing that it takes me to make such a comment to make people comment.
Pathetic.

Longing for the day. I’d have burned mine already but for their overwhelming popularity on public transport

No need to mask in the open streets.

As someone who had to take a PCR test today because a coworker decided not wear a mask and has now tested positive stop thinking about just yourselves. You wear a mask in case you are carrying the virus. I wear mine for the same reason. We’ve seen spittle tests showing the spread is lessened between people wearing masks. It’s not 100% effective but it does help. I really don’t want to be one of these “so what” numbers come a couple days from now.

We’d like you to postpone being selfish and without fortitude for just a bit longer, thanks.

Covid-19 data. From the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
Number of hospitalized people reported yesterday: 1109.
Number of hospitalized people reported today: 1198.
Difference between yesterday and today: +89
I have decided that the number of patients hospitalized with COVID, per 100000 in Tokyo Prefecture. I will only give them on Fridays. Then I will compare the index with the previous Friday. Giving a margin of 7 days to make a comparison. And so we will better see the evolution of the pandemic in Tokyo Prefecture.
Regarding the daily data. I will try to expose them, as long as I have free time to put them. I do not guarantee that it can be every day.

Same your time. Its obvious that you will only report the bad numbers and nothing else.

LOL, sour grapes as always.
Here is some news from Europe:
Official figures posted in France on Sunday reported 11,123 new cases within the previous 24 hours, slightly down from the previous day’s number

Just admit the fact, that Japan did a good job.

LOL, this why Japan has low numbers. The Japanese people have the self discipline to wear a mask and keep social distance. Our mindo is strong and the west is weak. Aso was correct.
bokuda
The article says that positive results are 7.4%, a record high from July.
The percentage is Japan is absolutely random, from 0.4~35% depending of the day of the week.
However you compare it, Japan is doing 10~ orders of magnitude worst.
Give me a reason to think that Japan is doing any better than France.
Objective
*bokuda: Give me a reason to think that Japan is doing any better than France.*
Well one obvious reason is deaths...
France - 31727
Japan - 1545
There is no country in the world that I would rather be living in right now. There is so much freedom here in Japan.

Your post seems to summarize so many posts. People seem unable or unwilling to acknowledge Japan and many Asian countries are doing a better job than the west.
I find it fascinating western media constantly talks about Sweden but never Japan which has taken an almost identical if not more relaxed and successful aproach.

“No need to mask in the open streets.”
No need to mask at all. But one does what one must to satisfy societal norms
”LOL, this why Japan has low numbers. The Japanese people have the self discipline to wear a mask and keep social distance. Our mindo is strong and the west is weak. “
I’d go with something that is proven - less obesity and generally better health among the people.

That’s you, arrogantly forcing your pro-mask beliefs on others
ClippetyClop
'pro-mask beliefs'? You think I have a mask altar or something? Maybe next to my seatbelt shrine?
Stop being so selfish and consider the well-being of others for once in your me me me life. We're not asking you to sew your gob shut, just cover it for a while. The sooner we get though this the better, so please grow up, even if it is only temporarily.
You went with something less proven instead. It's just a mask, wearing it doesn't make you any less of a really cool super free thinking guy you know.
Strangerland
Masks are proven to be effective. Having a healthy immune system is beneficial, and always good, but the high level of infectivity of this virus means that it also gets past the immune system of healthy individuals.
The best prevention is to be healthy, wear a mask, social distance, and wash your hands. Stack the deck in your favor.
None of this silly 'masks don't work' blah blah anymore. You're essentially just another flat-earther at this point if you're still trying to push the idea that masks aren't effective.

Perform 40,000 test in a day then we'll talk
Do the hustle
A lot of posts seem to have missed the part of the article that states these tests were carried out on Sept 25 (Saturday).
Moderator: Sept 25 was Friday.

If masks were found without doubt to be effective, I’d consider your argument. As we all know that isn’t the case.
Those who are selfish are those getting on their moral high-horse and dictating to others how to live.
I’m content, thanks.
Christopher Glen
“You're essentially just another flat-earther at this point if you're still trying to push the idea that masks aren't effective.”
For aa many studies that claim masks work, just as many or more indicate the opposite. So no, masks are not yet grounded in scientific fact, like your analogy is.
Moving on

Well then, the best place to be should be North Korea: They have 0 deaths.
@Objective
Do you understand that Japan doesn't PCR test death or alive people?
