China virus cases are irrelevant; its deaths that matter... and deaths are waaaaay down here in the US (under 500 a day nationwide)

Currently on last night of a 3 night stay in Fukuoka. Places open until late, very good time to be had. Osaka tomorrow, where I shall continue my usual routines, regardless of SOE

We are naughty children that need to be sent to bed early, we are not responsible adults.

@CoffeeDeluxe

Sadly, you are correct regarding that. I am looking after myself very well, thank you. Currently on last night of a 3 night stay in Fukuoka. Places open until late, very good time to be had. Osaka tomorrow, where I shall continue my usual routines, regardless of SOE

@falseflagsteve

They don't respond to reasoning. Focus on your own well-being.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

They have no faith in the tests or the numbers. Yet they come here day after day to check them. Oh, the true number is maych higher, they say. When the numbers drop: They're just trying to make it look good for the Olympics.

Face it: you guys LOVE covid. And you want it! Because then you can have one more chance to critisize the government.

But you couldn't catch it even if you wanted it. It's THAT rare!

I've never seen so much foolishness in all my life.

Don’t panic! The worlds not ending, the rates are very low and great news is the deaths rates are incredibly low. Unless the virus mutates into a far more deadly version the average person has nothing to worry about and should carry on as usual whilst taking appropriate precautions

its a meter away from your door step.. we will all get this C19....

@Skipp @Chabbawanga

They are definitely trying to confuse us. Hiding the numbers in the smallest possible font is just another trick in their pre-Olympics playbook.

@Chabbawanga

Interesting...That page says 11,090 tests, but the other page posted by Kanta says 6,435 tests, which is what Japanese users on social media have also been referencing for today's announced new positives.

And the 6,435 tests is not from yesterday's count because that count was announced on as 1,941, including on TV.

I don't understand why the numbers are so different.

I do understand that it's intentionally made to be confusing, though.

@marcelito

I couldn't agree more, sadly.

And I don't doubt they are banking on people being too lazy to look into the test numbers, or not being able to find them at all.

Kanta posted the link to where you're supposed to be able to see the accurate numbers, but look what's being reported:

新規陽性者711人 / 検査数6,435件

That's yesterday's new infections (711), which had a PCR test count of 1941 tests. Yet it's being paired together with the test numbers from today's new infections (which seems to be 6,435 tests).

Could they make it any more confusing intentionally?

Where are the numbers of tests? You did not include this information yesterday, either.

11090 tests

The daily test numbers for Tokyo can be found on the city's website:

https://stopcovid19.metro.tokyo.lg.jp

Search for 検査数 and near the top of the page will be the total number of tests alongside the total number of new infections.

"By age group, people in their 20s (221 cases) and their 30s (170) accounted for the highest numbers, while 107 cases were aged 60 and over."

So out of 843 cases, 391 are in their 20s and 30s, 107 are 60 and over so that makes 498. That still leaves 345 cases that must be in their 40s and 50s (not counting any teenagers who might have tested positive). That means basically all age groups from 20 up to 60 have about the same number of cases.

The new norm here - hiding the already abysmally low PCR test numbers (namely in Tokyo) to conceal the abysmally high infection rate in a place that has and continues to do nothing about containing the spread of the virus.

Do they think people are that stupid?

This blatant lack of transparency is transparent all on its own.

klausdorth - The darned virus keeps on going

Don't blame the virus. It can only survive if it has hosts. The increasing number of new cases are the result of inadequate control measures and a lack of vigilance within the population.

Test numbers aren't included in the Japanese reports anymore either. Yahoo News comments say 検査数6,435件.

Up 252 from last Wednesday.

No amount of mindo and jishuku is going to make up for the complete lack of joshiki of our leaders. Doing the reasonable thing and staying in for a year has paid off in that we know how to do that for another year. Glad the economy is safe.

May we get more Abe masks?

15 ( +16 / -1 )

Does that mean the confidence is rising? ROFL

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

843/13000000=0.006485%

That's the percentage of confidence we have in the reported numbers.

@didou,

please do the same calculation but with the number of tests.

15 ( +17 / -2 )

Sadly, this upward trend in cases is far from surprising. Testing all along to a MUCH higher degree, even for mildly/unsymptomatic patients, would have meant far less numbers being infected.

It is scary to imagine what the real numbers are, if testing was at appropriate levels.

SOE in one form or another in place until after the Olympics, that's the only way they can contain it since the vaccination rollout is also a debacle.

I'm comin' up, so you better get this party started

And again – no mention of how many tests were carried out to get this number of positives.

What’s the reason for this change of policy, I wonder?
