Tokyo reports 98 new coronavirus cases; nationwide tally 312

The Tokyo metropolitan government on Monday reported 98 new cases of the coronavirus, down 64 from Sunday. The number is the result of 2,861 tests conducted on Sept 18.

People in their 20s and 30s accounted for 46 of the cases.

The tally brought Tokyo's cumulative total to 24,306.

The number of infected people in Tokyo with severe symptoms is 27, unchanged from Sunday, health officials said.

Nationwide, the number of reported cases was 312. After Tokyo, the prefectures with the most cases were Osaka (39), Hyogo (27), Kanagawa (20), Aichi (19), Hokkaido (15), Saitama (15), Chiba (14) and Tochigi (13).

Six coronavirus-related deaths were reported nationwide.

Well maybe, but in this case they are.

They aren't doing the shotgun approach to testing but are successfully keeping the number of cases low for a long time now.

Just another evidence that Japan is the greatest nation in the world. Like so many other things, Japan handled the virus with efficiency.

Japanese people are doing a great job in containing the spread of the virus. The test positivity rate is always lower than 5 %.

Nice to see it is in double figures. Active cases continue to fall, which is testament to the great way that Japan has handled the virus.
