Yet another goal set for 2020, I hope they get all these projects done in time because after that seems like nothing will happen

nobody will remember the Olympics the day after they are over, hope all this investment is worth it. too bad they couldnt do these things for their own people earlier

Why were/are Japanese buses designed with so many steps anyway? Plus those sort of perch like seats.

Other places in the world don't use buses like that

Sometimes i think nothing would have changed in Japan if it wasn't for the Olympics. Every new thing or project starts with the same headline

Same in Kanagawa and Yokohama; have had them for years. The front half is non-step, but there is a massive step leading to the rear compartment, where most of the seats are, along with 4 sets of seats perched over the wheel arches, nigh impossible for the elderly, injured, pregnant and others to use.

They should also concentrate on getting rid of those bench seats in the back, or at least line them up against the side wall of the bus, so more people can fit in there during peak times.

Good to have more in Tokyo. They're good for Old people (of which there is an increasing number), disabled (but walking) people, and Mothers with young Kids.

The main bus company in my city has new ones without steps and I feel much comfortable to move inside when there's many people on and seats to 3 people or more like the train ones where I find much more new flat floor buses in this couple of years, I expected more in Tokyo.

Getting all these things done will be part of the long-term legacy of the games. I don't care about the games. rarely watch sports and hate crowds. Like to spend my summer free time at a beach or on a mountain, rather than in front of a TV.

I will benefit from the games being hosted here, though.

The only Olympics that changed anything in Japan were held in 1964.

Did you not read the article? It is about a change that is happening right now, because of the 2020 games.

And did you also forget about the 1972 and 1998 games? New venues, new highways, and shinkansen line.
