It’s bizarre that the government are advising the elderly not to participate in this mad campaign YET encouraging the young/ the group with the highest case of infections (according to the questionable data given) to keep participating and keep spreading the virus. Utter insanity!

They can still use it if they want, it is only a request and there is no need to provide correct identification when you use it.

Talk about living in a bubble. They’re concerned about the request for elderly to refrain, not at all concerned about the fact that there is a pandemic raging practically unregulated in their cities.

It’s not rocket science. SARS-CoV-2 is very very dangerous to elderly. Also obese and people with heart or lung complications, as well as people with cancers or immune system diseases.

Real business people show creativity and resilience in times of a downturn whatever the reason. My companies are active in the sports and entertainment sector but I switched the center of gravity by using my network to represent food and other companies.

Most of us , business men , also constantly complain about government interference so crying for them to bail us out is inconsistent. But accepting support when offered is good business acumen.

As a business man you choose independence and that has pro and contra’s compared to being an employee but we must accept both.

I own a business (largely unaffected by the rona), and if the government were requesting actions that would affect it, I would be concerned and angry, too.

It's incredible how the some officials are willing to sacrifice the economy and livelihood of regular people in order to save a minority of frail people from the tiny possibility of dying from an overestimated flu.

This is excatly the point.

If your life and income are not effected by lockdowns and restrictions, then it is easy to say "let us shut down everything" and "People should not travel".

But if your whole existence and life income is depend on tourism, it is a complete different situation.

In my opinion, if you want to travel, do it!

But do your best personal preventions. (Like wearing masks, keep social distance, use hand sanitizers...).

In America, Europe...many many people are traveling. And not only inside their own country. Also to foreign countries. The difference to Japan is, that Japan support your travel with money via the GoTo Campaign.

The GoTo campaign supports the businesses which depends on tourism and support the travelers with cheaper travel expenses.

So by your logic, australia and New Zealand are on par with china? Both countries with democratically elected governments imposed very strict lockdowns.

Very strict lockdowns led to an increase of suicides higher than virus attributable deaths, a 400%+ increase in domestic violence and one in five children suffering from developmental depression, unemployment and financial debt. Not to mention erosion of civil liberties.

chinas response was best, but Japan is not doing so bad. Apart from not preparing for 9 months, dedicated hospitals that is.

In America, Europe... there are a lot of people travelling. And not only within a nation of their own. To foreign nations as well. The difference with Japan is that through the GoTo Campaign, Japan helps your travel with currency.
