A car crashed into a truck carrying 100 pigs at Nasukarasuyama in Tochigi Prefecture on Monday, police said Tuesday.
The accident occurred at about 9:30 a.m., according to Sankei Shimbun. The truck, driven by a 52-year-old man, was hit by the car driven by an 83-year-old man, and turned over onto its side. About 40 pigs escaped, police said.
The pigs were rounded up in a nearby rice paddy about 90 minutes later. Seven pigs died in the truck.
Sankei reported that the accident took place at an intersection where there were no traffic lights.© Japan Today
