Two people died and three were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a four-door sedan and a K-car on Sunday in the town of Motegi in Tochigi Prefecture.
According to police, the K-car was jutting in and out of the oncoming lane when it collided head-on with a car traveling toward it at around 2:20 p.m. Two passengers in the K-car, 52-year-old Fujio Akiyama, who was driving, and his wife Reiko, 37, were killed, while the couple's oldest daughter, 17, suffered serious injuries.
The couple riding in the sedan sustained minor injuries. Police are currently trying to determine why the K-car was swerving into the wrong lane.

Don't drive K-Cars !! - it is just like driving your own coffin !!! Better spend some more on the car and gas but be much safer. AFAIK 4 doors sedans are among the safest car types...

Agreed. I've even come to expect the thoughtless comment every time an event like this happens. There are so many things that could have happened.
I am not sure how many cars can take a head on collision safely. Even the safest common vehicles have fatalities in head on collisions.
The greatest victims are perhaps the surviving children of the couple (17 year old was just the oldest). I hope the have family or friends willing to take them in as their own. I've heard of way too many unfortunate circumstances of neglect from a fostering family.

K-Cars are just cheap, well built, economic on fuel consumption but are a death trap. Shame more people added to the statics of K-Car fatalities that are never published.

Another stupid comment made by someone who probably wasn't even there. Maybe he was having some type of medical condition, maybe not, but a poor young girl just lost both of her parents. No need for such harsh words or rush to judgement.

Another stupidly impatient driver trying to save a few seconds, or not racing to get to the next red light.
