Two 15-year-old boys killed after their motorbike crashes into car

Two 15-year-old boys were killed when the motorbike they were riding crashed into a car in Tagawa, Fukuoka Prefecture, on Wednesday night.

According to police, the accident occurred at an intersection with traffic lights on National Route 201. Sankei Shimbun quoted police as saying that neither of the two boys, identified as Kazuki Nomaguchi and Kenshin Hara, had a license and that the bike’s owner was a third person.

Police said the accident occurred when a car driven by a 50-year-old man was turning right at the intersection, and he was hit from the left by the bike coming from the opposite direction.

The two boys were flung off the bike and suffered head injuries. They were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The driver of the car sustained minor injuries.

That’s what happens when people don’t know how to ride.....

A rather unfortunate incident. I wonder who gave them the motorcycle and why.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate. 1/2 helmets either not strapped on or fashionably loose around the back of their necks.

In Japan you can rather safely make the assumption that these two were in some kinda bike gang or Bosozoku.

Dying at fifteen is a horrible tragety. At that age I felt invincible as well.

Hope their families can find peace.

But, from the description in the article it would seem the old fella turned in front of them. Perhaps their age and inexperience are not the cause of the accident. Admittedly, they should have not been on the road at all, but it seems as though they were the victims in this incident.

One of our students died in a similar accident recently (he had a licence). The car driver turned right and he crashed into the side of the car. The driver should be at fault unless they ran a red light.

Yup, Bosozoku. I know that area and it is overrun with bosozoku and the police take little action. It is a sad lesson that police need to crack down on these kids for their own safety.

How can 2 teenagers joyriding without license NOT be at fault?

They most likely didn't have helmets, and were most likely on a 50cc scooter, which is meant for 1 person. (although it's still somewhat speculation until further details come out)

RIP

The car was turning right , most likely slowing and the scooter?

To kill both riders they must have been moving at speed.

Inexperience and disregard for themselves I’m afraid...

Its hard to make any speculations here, but perhaps the car driver didn't see the bike coming from the left. Or those young wannabes were just being stupid and careless with sheer and utter disregards to the road rules.

No doubt we were all stupid and careless once. But when I read about two 15 year old boys dying tragically, the words "wannabes," "stupid" and "careless" are not the ones I reach for.

RIP, is it that hard.

Most accidents are a combination of different factors. Since the intersection was controlled by a traffic light, it's very likely although not certain that the car driver had the right turn arrow. Otherwise, he would have been crossing lanes of active traffic to make his right hand turn. It is also likely that the driver of the scooter saw an open road ahead even though he had a red light, and decided to run it, too late realizing his mistake.

How do you stop teenagers from doing teenager stupid things ?

Show them the horror videos such as this event ?

If you did so now-a-days, you'd probably be ridiculed by many, but... it's pretty effective.
