Two 15-year-old boys were killed when the motorbike they were riding crashed into a car in Tagawa, Fukuoka Prefecture, on Wednesday night.
According to police, the accident occurred at an intersection with traffic lights on National Route 201. Sankei Shimbun quoted police as saying that neither of the two boys, identified as Kazuki Nomaguchi and Kenshin Hara, had a license and that the bike’s owner was a third person.
Police said the accident occurred when a car driven by a 50-year-old man was turning right at the intersection, and he was hit from the left by the bike coming from the opposite direction.
The two boys were flung off the bike and suffered head injuries. They were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
