On Okinawa, they say you know the typhoon has reached its maximum when you see cars flying down the streets, end over end.

Holy Smokes! If that amount of energy ever hit Tokyo, it would be The End!

What would happen if one of these hit Fukushima? Are they ready already?

I'm on Okinawa and it's raging outside... haven't lost power though. lol.. I haven't seen any cars flying just yet neither.

If I was U.S. Christian pastor Pat Robertson, I’d already have concluded that God hates Okinawans.

But by the same token, and considering there’s a huge storm heading for the upcoming Republican Convention in Tampa, Florida, I’d also conclude that God hates Republicans.

SushiSake3, God loves the people of Okinawa, God dislikes the Republicans, How could any one dislike the people of Japan. God is pissed and he is coming back. The politicans of the world are first on his hit list. There greed is at the top of his list. I hope that the people of Okinawa fare well with the Typhoon.....God Bless

In Naha right now, sipping coffee on the veranda. Just a a little wind and rain, nothing to worry about...

Why is a 91 year old man walking outside during a violent storm ???????

" packing winds of up to 252 kilometers per hour "

It is not a problem, Okinawa will get full reservoirs and the streets will be safer with all of the bases on lock down. T. why Americans there are no trailers on Okinawa. Talked to my brother and he says things are fine. I bet the American bases will be without power for weeks.

Any loss of ospreys? Probably no such luck. Let's hope for no loss of human life.

Don't worry Okinawa. The soldiers are there to the rescue if something catastrophic happens.

lostrune2, there is no need for concern. Buildings are made for these storms. Okinawa will not need any help from the Americans. If anything the Americans will need our help.

surf's up, awesome morning waves in Shonan, especially Inamuragasaki ~ Shichirigahama

I have been living in Okinawa for over 10 years and this is one of the biggest typhoons that I have experienced but the Okinawan buildings are built to withstand these types of storms. Now were are just getting the extra needed rain from the backside of the storm then things will be back to normal. Some people have lost power but nothing near what it could have been. Thanks to Okiden for keeping the power flowing.

That was a lot of rain!

Was not the bad in my area of Okinawa Shi. Just a lot of rain now. Power stayed on the whole time.

I had some of the best surfing ever this past weekend. Thank you Okinawa.

Kuginuma kaigan was rocking, but the life guards quished us all into a small area. Not a good move at all.

@YuriOtani - say what? More than 75,000 households lacked power on Monday after a powerful typhoon lashed Okinawa

Not so bad in my area either. I live in the Awase area near the ocean but still nothing so bad. Super Typhoon Bart in 1999 was much worse.

Bart and Kirk in 1996 were some good ones!

ultradork the power will be back soon unlike Oklahoma where 100 km per hour winds knocks out power and it takes them days or even weeks to fix it. Dude there are over 1.3 Okinawa people, considering the strength of the storm the number is small. In America it would be beyond bad with close to if not 100 percent out and untold billions of dollars of damage. Okinawa is not luck but prepared.
