Tokyo will likely set a new record today for August rainfall, exceeding the previous high recorded in 1910.

Grey sky in Kobe but not a jot of wind at all.

One of my family members takes a flight from Okinawa to KIX this morning-no cancellation and is scheduled for on time departure.

From the article:

"Without phasing out fossil fuels, the root cause of climate change, typhoons will bring even greater devastation to Japan," said Ralf Toumi, director of the Grantham Institute at Imperial.

I wonder if Mr. Toumi practises what he preaches. Next time he comes to Japan, he should swim. The goes with the IPCC members, etc.

For the last few weeks the general population of Japan has been living in fear while the "news" media get clicks and eyeballs. First, potential Nankai earthquake and then a slow-moving typhoon that's had the country on edge for over a week. Supermarkets sell out of bottled water and rice as people start hoarding (strangely toilet paper is okay for these disasters - apparently COVID made people more reliant on TP than rice). Disasters can happen, but this media-driven panic that leads to the everyday person losing almost a month of their lives is craziness.

Very sunny saturday in Tokyo.

I guess this X mark means the typhoon has died out?

Blaming climate change for typhoons hitting Japan. Novel.

Yrrai

Maybe you have a link to information I don’t have. I don’t see anything about a typhoon approaching Kagoshima on Sunday, Sept 8. Where did you get that information?

Really??

Sorry to hear some people lost their lives , but happy to see that this one has downgraded and will hopefully kill no more .As for climate change well ,they keep pushing that for everything , which seems rather callous if downright stupid .

Still no wind and just a little rain.

This is not an opinion but a fact.

Typhoons cause damage every year, and if fossil fuels are the cause, it is not Japan but the US, China, India and other countries with large emissions that need to do something about it.

There is not much Japan can do.

Still no wind and just a little rain.

This is not an opinion but a fact.

And very good fact that makes an important point!

You are allowed to say ‘the remnants of the typhoon’.

Seems gonna go right through Fukui and then through Kanazawa. Weird path. Thanks global warming.
