i think ba ki moon has arrived rather late....5 months into the disaster!!!!!!! and h calls thies arriving early????? give me a break!!
smithinjapan
Get ready for TEPCO to suddenly reveal a bunch of facts (that were known since March), then contradict themselves to the Japanese media!

Please enjoy Local Delicacies and issue a wonderful (inspirational) statement later on.

This sentence is telling me that Mr. Ki-Moon is going to have a slew of experts with him on his visit to Fukushima, for the summit in New York next month alone Japan is going to be a topic of discussion.
123chachacha
Well that explains the real reason he came.
tigerguy
The nuclear crisis simmering? Is this some sort of man-made joke? Govt secretly dumping huge amounts of radioactive material from Fukushima - "The situation is expected to worsen", from ene news.
Smorkian
Yeah, as if the secretary-general of the freakin' UN couldn't get a pass to go closer should he choose.
NeoJamal
No surprises, the UN wouldn't go any nearer than 20km to a place with half a dozen angry Africans armed with wooden sticks.
Also how convenient for him to arrive one day after the Hiroshima commemorations took place, and what's this other agenda he brought with him, request for troop deployment to Africa? obviously he didn't forget that Japan hasn't got tired of giving away free stuff to the UN despite making on headway into stop treating their country as an enemy state.

If the guy came earlier, people would complain. If he came later, people would complain. People will simply complain for the sake of doing so, and that's all. That the man is coming at all to a nuclear hazard site is pretty amazing, giving that Japan refuses to give any information as to what's going on until months after the fact.
NeoJamal
You imply as if this man is needed..AT ALL

NeoJamal: "You imply as if this man is needed..AT ALL"
I don't imply anything... you simply see what you want to. I don't think it's necessary he come at all -- or that he came soon after the disaster. The only way I see it as beneficial is if anything is revealed that had not previously been so. But given that we're dealing with Japan and TEPCO... well...
Anyway, take a deep breath, my friend, and read comments for what they are -- not what you think they mean.
Asagao
So he turns up 155 days later, begging for soldiers to go fight another oil war.

Depending on the length of Mr Ki-Moon's visit and the reports he has access to, I'm not so sure he would ask a SDF platoon (s) to leave the country where they are most needed.

His visit is very important assuring Japanese citizens and the world that all problem solving activies of TEPCO and J. Gov have been and will be carefully monitored. No cheating, no shortcut are allowed. I appreciate his visit to Fukushima.
