“My weapon is language and music,” Karol said in Tokyo as she concluded a weeklong visit to rally support for Ukraine.

Kishida and Mikitani: Thank you Ms. Karol. Our weapons are our repetition of our support for sanctions through a steady drip of meaningless additions, acceptance of a minuscule number of refugees for the 3rd largest economy in the world and measures that will in no way affect the bottom line of our Japanese corporations.

Can you use chopsticks on camera?

I think Russia will do the rebuilding in the east and south.... It would be rude to expect the Ukrainians to rebuild territory that has become Russian.

I don't expect USA to chip in. They're not into building or maintaining infrastructure in their own country, so I doubt they have much experience - they're more into bombing other countries.

All power to you, Ms Karol. You are a credit to your great nation, and will one day return to a reborn sovereign Ukraine.

I think Russia will do the rebuilding in the east and south.... It would be rude to expect the Ukrainians to rebuild territory that has become Russian.

Russia rebuilding?

The only thing fascist Russia excels at is violence, bombing schools and destroying hospitals.

And those invaders keep getting sent back where they came from in tens of thousands of body bags. Meanwhile, the shaky little coward who sent them to their deaths is shaking even more by the day at his big desk.

Ukraine Ms Carol will be free and well again for sure, but the sooner we call and sing for peace, the greater the chance to be back to normal in time.. it doesn't have to be more bloody and cruel.

Isn't Putin the only one who needs to be convinced of that for peace to return?

"Isn't Putin the only one who needs to be convinced of that for peace to return?"

We need both eyes to see the picture more clearly.

What does WWII have to do with the Russian invasion of Ukraine?

Reading the article would help

She paid tribute to the victims of the Aug. 6, 1945, atomic bombing of the city and saw “a great calamity” at its peace museum and felt strongly that nobody should face the threat of nuclear weapons again.

She also said she was inspired by the people's resilience and effort to rebuild from the ruins of the atomic attack.

@Pukey2 "EXPECT" is a guess my next question? Do you know how large the US is? My next question when have or have you EVER been to the USA to make such an assumption. Where I live there is homes, trains station being built everywhere. So I EXPECT you are glued to your monitor.

I don't expect USA to chip in. They're not into building or maintaining infrastructure in their own country, so I doubt they have much experience - they're more into bombing other countries.

I think Russia will do the rebuilding in the east and south

I hope their builders aren't as incompetent as their soldiers.

Yes this explains it exactly :

Because of concern Moscow's actions may embolden China's already assertive actions in the region

Japan has not helped Ukraine out of true humanitarian kindness .

Japan has only helped Ukraine to gain international recognition for its own territorial issues it cant resolve peacefully and as an excuse to impose hardships on Russia .

A truth be told accurate paragraph of this article and a classic example of the steady flow of Japanese governments double standards.

Absolute load of unsubstantiated rot.

Yrral

These Ukrainain official are flexless,it been month since the Azov have been trapped, they have not attempted one rescue mission to help themselves, and Russia will surround 10 thousands more in the East,

Considering Russia have lost ONE THIRD of their land forces including drones, tanks and armoured vehicles, I don't see the Russians surrounding anybody, anytime soon. They lost a WHOLE BATTALION trying try cross a river.

Biden better start addressing domestic issues, that the only way Ukraine will help themselves is by tough love

Or Ukraine could humiliate Russia on the battlefield.

@Waah

Ukraine will be free and well again for sure

We need both eyes to see the picture more clearly

Are you sure about that ?

You think Putin will return territory he's taken with a pretty little ribbon on top ?

Obviously Waah your living in la la land of false reality if you believe that Ukraine will be free and well again after this war.

Its been devastating for Ukraine.

The conflict needs to end first.

If your eyes were open then you wouldn't be making such ridiculous sensational comments.

My weapon is language and music

That's as ineffective in Japan as the sanctions

Who?????..

We need both eyes to see the picture more clearly.

Using an expression I read on this site long ago, Putin and the Kremlin know they're leading a nation that includes many who have "thick bone behind eyes".Putin and the Kremlin care nothing that many of the thick and/or blind are no longer alive, or perhaps permanently disabled because they followed Putin's ridiculous commands and participated in invading a sovereign nation that no longer wanted Moscow controlling their lives.

I hope their builders aren't as incompetent as their soldiers.

I would say as incompetent as the Russian leaders, from Putin down to lower ranking military officers. Russia put a space station on orbit that has been of benefit to scientists around the world. But Russia bungles so many things related to the lives of today's ordinary citizens, it's a space age country stuck in a medieval mindset, with only fossil fuels and other resources found under its soils to offer the world, a world stupidly addicted to burning huge amounts of fossil fuels, which enriches only a handful of elites and oligarchs (i.re the 'establishment' ( around the world, but poisons millions of ordinary individuals, among whom a lucky few might be trickled down on.

@ fighto

Read the article again and you will see how "not unsubstantiated " my comment is !

Japan's assistance to Ukraine has been pitiful and not out of kindnesses of heart and humanitarian.

Only to look like Japan actually cares .

Using the Ukraine crisis as an exuse to wine and moan about Japan's own territorial and pathetic security issues.

It's undeniable and futile to disagree that Japanese government standards are disgustingly double !

Zelenskyy certainly isn't impressed with Japan's assistance and neither is any other country.

You think Putin will return territory he's taken with a pretty little ribbon on top ?

No I don't, it might well be a bottle of vodka with a note that says: sorry! we all make mistakes.

“You will see a glorious country in the center of Europe.”

well that'll be nice, because, according to wikipedia on Demographics of Ukraine, which I looked at because I was wondering how large a population, and how many people therefore, mainly men, were available as a fighting force, the country was described thus: "Ukraine suffers a high mortality rate from environmental pollution, poor diets, widespread smoking, extensive alcoholism and deteriorating medical care".

Yes Ukraine will rebuild bigger and better and be compensated for with dead citizens and soldiers with garnishing LPG payments to Russia.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@John-San

Yes Ukraine will rebuild bigger and better and be compensated

Another sensational comment of wishful thinking .

When Ukraine war has finished and its rebuilt bigger and better ,only then will your comment make any sense.

As for compensation - i wouldn't hold your breath over that happening.
