The non-infected need to self isolate and self quarantine when the go home, but I suspect that the majority won't. It's gonna be the Diamond Princess all over again....

I really hope that this Italian company is paying for these charter flights and all costs! Also, the patients that test positive will stay in Japan and put the Nagasaki health system under further strain. They should be reimbursed by the company as well. There is no way these people should have been kept on the ships during a pandemic. Also they must have known that they were going to leave the ship, even though they were not allowed to. What a mess, and I don't fault the Japanese authorities in this case. It was the company that bears all responsibility.

What are teens doing on a cruise ship? They should be in school. This is child labor.

I don't get it. Why send the healthy away? Send the sick home. No need for them to remain in Japan to further complicate matters.

Markx, you do realie it is likely the ship was infected AFTER it arrived in Japan, it has been here since Jan & the +ve test have only recently surfaced!

Gee I wonder if any of us posters might be sent "home" to where we are from if we catch the virus...….

Some teenagers work. Not all are well off enough to go to university, especially those from developing nations like The Philippines.

I feel sorry for all the workers, but I hope the cruise ship industry goes bankrupt and dies completely. Anyone who gets on a cruise ship from now on is clearly not right in the head.

Not if you're 18, the minimum age to work on cruise ships.

I said this a few weeks ago, and everyone ragged on me for it. But it's true....with all of the cruise ships incidents happening, anyone who boards these things during these times, are just asking to get infected.

And the cruise ships companies that continue to operate should go out of business!

Let's see if they learned anything from the release of "Uninfected" passengers on the Diamond Princess (they in fact let off infected people) and the people who came back from Wuhan, who were simply allowed to ride public transport home, no quarantine necessary.

I imagine they will be quarantined on arrival in their own countries

you mean the Ruby Princess right?

Interesting stat FYI

Deaths on the Ruby Princess 21

Deaths on Diamond Princess 14

Cases on the Diamond Princess 712

Cases on the Ruby Princess 852

Based on ABOVE, IT LOOKS LIKE JAPAN DID A BETTER JOB THAN AUSTRALIA.

If you are on a short visa VISA, then the answer is yes.
