Why ? Giving developing countries money for vaccines which Will come from the very " donors " to eventually be brought at ridiculous price's. A con game by another name..

Mist of you will be shocked that this money never makes it to the intended recipients.

All flows right back to businesses associated with gvt cronies, pharmaceuticals and research centers in the pledging countries.Political gimmicks trying to show the rest of the world that you are doing something to remain relevant.

Go to any of this developing nations and see for yourself.Don't rely on controlled media.

Most.

Again, how many people believe in the words "developed"and "developing"nations.

This are just words that are coined for the sole purpose of dividing the world into "haves" and "have nots"

Right here in Japan there are people who live way worse than people in the so called developing countries.

Developed is only a name for some multinationals. The common Joe Kun and Mariko on the streets live from hand to mouth.

Why J-Gov. Why Why Why Why!!!!

Is Abe sure?

In my experience, Abe is not very good at giving anything!

@kurisupisu,

Abe very good at giving to his cronies.

I fact he is a dab hand at giving to the rich after robbing the poor.

"Developed is only a name for some multinationals. The common Joe Kun and Mariko on the streets live from hand to mouth."

Certainly.

The common Joe Kun and Mariko live hand to mouth, just like the average Okonkwo and Txitxi do in Lagos, their equivalents in Manila, Colombo, Cordoba, most of China's regions away from the rich coastal regions, Bujumbura and Mbabane.

The common Joe Kun and Mariko don't have access to running water, sanitation, medical care, transportation. Can't afford schooling for the children. The country they're from is totally dependent on crop/mineral exports and is ravaged by infectious diseases, famine, wars and a despotic ruler/regime.

No difference at all; none whatsoever.

Thanks again for remind us that "developed" is only a figment of some peoples's imagination; or as you put it "a name for some multinationals".

Now some of us know better.

In principle - and in theory - this is good. But (sadly) much of the money will probably be funneled back into the coffers of the world's major drug companies, and then flow to stockholders, political parties, and individual politicians' campaign offices. Moreover, GiveWell doesn't recommend Gavi, stating on their website: "Our best guess is that Gavi does not currently have room for more funding." Why not instead nationalize the country's pharmaceutical companies and have them produce cheaper vaccines for developing countries?

Bill Gates Foundation is one of the biggest donors to GAVI. In 2010, the Gates Foundation funded a trial of a GSK’s experimental malaria vaccine, killing 151 African infants and causing serious adverse effects including paralysis, seizure, and febrile convulsions to 1,048 of the 5,049 children. It's all part of the depopulation agenda of the elite.

@Peeping,

Instead of concentrating on the problems facing the locals here, you go on the defensive trying to defend a corrupt system right here where you live and you further go ahead and selectively pick up some towns and cities and try to justify your argument?Just unbelievable.

If living on cup ramen day in day out and going to sleep on an old futon in a box that you call apaato or mansion is richness to you..I have no more words.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said.... What this means is, since you have the name Abe and said, it has been determined that if you have these two words together, a un-truth will form. A fantasy world of comedy is about to be upon your brain. Abe and said only means lets go to Disneyland an ignore reality. Abe and said is a kind of comedy. Just laugh at him. Thats what this joker wants.

"you go on the defensive"

Offensive; I don't play safe or mince my words.

" trying to defend a corrupt system "

Corrupt systems exist everywhere; unless your country is the exception of course.

"further go ahead and selectively pick up some towns and cities"

Or I could just carry on and name all the roughly 87% real developing countries out there. I can recite them all, even if sleeping.

"justify your argument"

Just saying it as it is.

The argument is that Taro's struggles do not differ from those in real developing countries. Have you ever been to any of those "selective" countries to see how it's really like to be there?

"living on cup ramen day in day out and going to sleep on an old futon in a box"

"There are thousands living like this in London, Paris and Milan; not forgetting the good old US of A.

Many thousands in such countries sleep rough and a cup of ramen is a "luxury" the can ill afford; just give a London homeless a cup of ramen and watch the reaction, least of all because he would rather have a beer.

Go compare them with the poor in Bangui and then come back.

"I have no more words"

You should not utter a single syllable if the sentence in question is: Taro lives hand to mouth, just like folks in real developing countries.

...when we can't even get tested here, and people are going hungry...

Exactly!!!

Pls slove Japanese problems first.

Why ? Giving developing countries money for vaccines which Will come from the very " donors " to eventually be brought at ridiculous price's. A con game by another name..

Because vaccines are produced only by one single company in the whole wide world? or is it a conspiracy that makes it so? what prices are ridiculous for you? because most of available vaccines for tropical medicine are dirt cheap and produced by many companies all over the world (and in countries like in Vietnam produced even locally).

All flows right back to businesses associated with gvt cronies, pharmaceuticals and research centers in the pledging countries

Except when it does not, as is easy to see if you you just researched a little about what kind of vaccines are being used, from rabies to yellow fever.

Why J-Gov. Why Why Why Why!!!!

Because its much cheaper and convenient to prevent a new outbreak in the original countries instead of having to deal with imported infections every season in Japan?

Why not instead nationalize the country's pharmaceutical companies and have them produce cheaper vaccines for developing countries?

Like is being done in SE Asia with many programs for decades now? Vietnam produce good quality vaccines in large numbers.

when we can't even get tested here, and people are going hungry...

Prevention is an extremely sensible health intervention policy, and if directed towards economic partners it does come back indirectly. COVID is not the only disease running this year. Testing bottleneck is not the cost, so it is irrelevant if money is used elsewhere or not, testing would not increase because it is a decision made for other reasons.

Now, do you want to compare $300 mil to what is being invested in Japan to fight the economic effects of COVID? that would be 30 billion yen against more than 100 trillion yen. Do you think that receiving 10,003 yen instead of 10,000 yen would make any difference?

I've got some masks they can have, if for nothing else than to clean a few drops of liquid on a counter or chair. They're only slightly more expensive than the ¥300M.
