Non-violence is the weapon of the strong. Violence is the weapon of the weak. Long live non-violence.

You are not going to remove NATO without removing the UN recognized government of Ukraine. When nuclear missiles were removed from Cuba, it was still free to host Soviet hardware, militarize, and oppose the US and did.
Tell me the scenarios in which Taiwan's government is removed and I will tell you how they all result in massive death and property destruction. Free governments don't just wander off for you.

The end of Ukraine as a Nato staging ground is not the "end of Ukraine": In the same way that removal of Sovjet missiles from Cuba was not "the end of Cuba".
Says who? There are many ways to achieve regime change. Destroying a country is not an option that is in anybodys interest. Your view is extremely simplistic.

Telling Ukraine to retreat and disarm is a pretty clear indicator of what russia has planned, which is the end of Free Ukraine.
The US and Taiwanese governments and militaries are not going to sleep. The only alternatives are the status quo or to destroy Taiwan. It won't be a grinding conflict like Ukraine.

Which country is that?
ian
Lol. What's that got to do with the US being the greatest threat to the world?
TaiwanIsNotChina
Maybe your country should try a regime change.

Lol

It is impossible to abolish a technology once it is out there. The cat is out of the bag, and there is no way to put it back in.

You are welcome to support the Zelenski government, but Russia has not tried to "annihilate" Ukraine. Let us be more careful with words.
And neither does the CCP have any interest to "annihilate" Taiwan. They want to rule it, not destroy it.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Vaunted hypersonic missiles, destroyers, and supposedly stealth aircraft not enough for the dictatorship cabal?
TaiwanIsNotChina
Not going to happen. Russia was first to try to annihilate Ukraine and China is always looming over Taiwan.

This is not a good way to say this, but remember that the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki are like firecrackers compared to modern nuclear bombs.

Yup.
But even if the US takes the lead the other nuke powers would still not give them up.
That would render them vulnerable to ganging up by the US and lackeys
In no time they'll be just another Iraq..
mrtinjp
Good Luck getting Russia, China, North Korea and Iran to give up their nuclear arsenal
They won't, else in no time they would be another Iraq, Libya, no one will give them up unless until the US takes the lead, they used it twice, and they can ensure these are never used again.
Fighto!
Nuclear weapons protect Japan.
Like it or not. So, signing any such ban would be hypocritical.
smithinjapan
An issue for all humanity except the very first step -- the Japanese government. They have clearly indicated they are not at all interested in signing a ban on nuclear weapons, despite starting every sentence at all international summits with, "Being the only nation to have suffered atomic bombings..."

Good.
So we can both agree about fascist Russia and Communist China then.

@Fighto!
So you've decided what a rogue nation is.
So have I.
My list includes countries that commit genocide.

Good Luck getting Russia, China, North Korea and Iran to give up their nuclear arsenal

Nice sentiment, truly admirable people.
But the cold reality is the rogue nations with nukes - Communist China, North Korea, Iran, Fascist Russia - are never giving them up.
Which is also why democracies can never do so.
No nation possessing nuclear weapons has ever been successfully invaded.

There is no reason for Japan to sign such a document. Do you think China, Russia, and North Korea would suddenly stop their nuclear programs? Of course not. The only thing it does is put Japan in a worse off situation with 0 benefits
TaiwanIsNotChina
So not russia, as you so carefully illustrated. And a peace agreement at gunpoint is not an actual peace agreement, it is an unequal treaty.

Japan being victim from Nuclear in 1945 and in 2024 organization of nuclear victims being awarded Nobel prize. However Japan refused to sign prohibition of nuclear weapon.
Being victim doesn't mean not interested to abolish use of that weapon?

This is completely true. It was orders of magnitude higher than the discrimination suffered by those who moved away from Fukushima after the meltdowns. If all the stories of this prejudice were to be gathered it would tell a disgraceful tale.
