before the rollout continues for the general population

Before I was optimistic for August-September...but my new Estimate is December 2021.

Here's a tip -- don't lift the SOE, even though it is mostly just lip-service anyway, until the virus has ACTUALLY subsided. Tip #2, start testing. That's right, START. Five tests or so a day when the rest of the world has outpaced Japan 1,000,000 to 1, is inexcusable. Tip #3, when you ask for advice and receive it, LISTEN to it. Don't pretend you're special and the advice does not apply, then act surprised when you're in the kind of situation Osaka is now in. Tip #4, stop the external-locus-of-control approach and decide on something YOURSELF. The inaction and reticence to speak and act, then blame it on others and wait for others to do something, is why Japan is in this mess as well, unlike nations like Taiwan, which acted strongly and quickly.

300... How quaint!

Try 5,000 plus daily in your region. Last year we had 10,000 plus daily in the worst hit town in Italy.

Thats the propaganda the Japanese government sells to the population for their incompetency dealing with the whole pandemic since day 1 - a few examples below.

”Foreign virus” - resulting in during a few months only foreigners arriving in Japan requiring PCR tests, while Japanese nationals did not;

“Japanese gene superiority”

“Vaccines not arriving on time even though we only approved a single one, late February - EU’s fault” and so on.

Should vaccines have been approved earlier, at the same time as all other developed countries, and you’d have a good percentage of the population vaccinated by now.

But lets keep blaming foreigners, easier than taking action surely.

"Osaka Prefecture decided last Friday to extend nonbinding requests for dining establishments in Osaka city to close by 9 p.m. for another three weeks to April 21, and expand the measure to the entire prefecture from Thursday."

Hang on... so... Osaka doesn't want another SOE, but they want the central government to push BINDING legislation on restaurants, etc., while they only ASK people to maybe pretty please close willingly? I guess it'll be the government's fault if they enforce something, and not Osaka's fault if they won't. Cowards. They have no problem bragging in front of the cameras it's all their doing when they feel Osaka is leading in something, though.

People should be testing themselves!

My local discount store was selling a 3000 kit that could be sent off and the result supplied in a few days.

So, why isn’t the government subsidising these tests?

Why indeed....

Japan’s efforts to control the spread of the virus just drag on and on with little effect. There are still over 10,000 new cases every week after more than a year.

Seriously?

You put the blame on the EU for the ineptitude of YOUR government??

Maybe if your almighty government was using it’s founds for developing a vaccine for it’s people rather to protect the corporations with the GoTo and useless masks you would not depend from foreign vaccine.

Not surprising residents in Osaka go about everyday activities with out mask.

Hi guys, be honest sometimes. Why keeping blaming the J government for the vaccination issues and delays. Japan does not have its own vaccine and as a result fully depends on imports. That is something that can not be controlled. There are five vaccines approved in the World, so about 200 countries are depending on imports. What else the J government should do ? One year ago on this forum many were saying they will never wear a mask ? And now ? The majority is bashing for vaccination delays
