Where did it say it was the "Shinkansen" service? The way I read this is the result of maintenance company doing repairs at 3.40am when Shinkansen do not run at all... but I could be wrong.

it happens.regardless country.

@Alongfortheride
Bullet train/ Shinkansen are mentioned many times in the article.
Track maintenance is done when the trains are not running, between 2345 and 0545, when there is a final test and check.

You don't have to imagine, massive earthquakes had happened but it did not have any major incidents, derailments occurred but that was it.
This was an accident, an accidents happen... but perhaps accidents does not occur in othre railsways in the world?...

Nowhere, in either report, is there the faintest suggestion of this.
If you care to educate yourself before posting further comments about the disruption of service earlier in the month, see here: https://xtech.nikkei.com/atcl/nxt/news/24/01161/
Do you, now? Whereabouts do you see that? I don't expect you'll avail yourself of this opportunity to educate DatAss ( moniker so cool, so original), but here goes: https://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20240722/k10014518881000.html

@wallace Two people were hurt in the accident, as is reported in the article and in other reports. They were workers in the stationary train that was crashed into.
wallace
It was a terrible inconvenience for travelers but no one was hurt in the accident. Overnight repair trains but it should not have happened.

The only back up when the shink is broken is the all stations run on the parallel conventional Tokaido line. No expresses or rapids run in it because JR Tokai are both pigheaded and stingy.

Two trucks. Imagine a massive earthquake!

Didn't this happen last week too.
Even Japan's perfect Shinkansen service is failing these days
