NHK said that as of 5:30 am, no injuries have been reported to police.

I was awake and felt every jolt. My phone went off with earthquake alerts made me jump out of my computer seat

The series of announcement alarms, that included dramatic piano music played on lamppost speakers, was just bizarre.

I slept right through it. Those of you who woke up in the earthquake were probably in the REM sleep.

..in other news an i-phone got thrown out of an apartment window as the horrible 'Alert' ,which had been re-enabled by a software update, almost gave everyone in the house a heart attack!

"Get Use To It" like the rest of the country.

Today 06:51 am JST “ That was quite a jolt. Woke me and my partner up. What are we like lol. “
Really?…; what woke me up was the “ jishin desu! “, “ jishin desu! “, “ jishin desu! “, “ jishin desu! “…; … a small, mini-earthquake, if you ask me.

I was in one of the "lower five 5-" regions - trust me, it was not a small jolt but a proper shakedown... No damages whatsoever, but having three cellphones going on with the alert AFTER the quake hit was not pleasant.

I flew into Batman mode and woke up to protect the family. Everything is fine. Whew!

Not sure which was the worst, my phone and wife screaming their lungs out in unison at 4Am or the relatively mild earthquake which would have probably not woken me up.

That was pretty creepy. I thought I was safe of these panic attacks by disabling the iPhone alert, 10 seconds eerie piano music playing right next to me by 4am

Glad there were no injuries or damage, this time round. I'm also glad to be living back on the only continent with no active volcanoes and where earthquakes are rare.

Wow, I used to live out in (bakka)-Chibi, that’s wild.
Just goes to show you, it can happen ANYWHERE

No quakes round my way for a while. I tend not to think about it really, if it happens it happens, doesn’t it. What am I like.

So 5.2 is described in the article as 'upper five', but not 'five plus'?
By that logic, what would 5.7 or 5.8 be? And what is 'lower 5'? Below five?

Magnitude and shindo are different things.
The former is the power of the 'quake at its epicentre - so is useless info. without that location and depth.
Shindo is how much things are shaking at any given point due to that 'quake, which is why this one registered "upper 5" in Kisarazu (basically on top of the epicentre) but only 2 or 3 across the bay in Yokohama.
