Others will be asked to recuperate in designated facilities or at home in exceptional circumstances.

and again, the J gov will not keep track of those who die at home.

Here we go. They're slowly but surely inching us towards another State of Emergency. First come these small measures, then comes the quasi SoE, and then finally the full-blown SoE. Siiiiiiiiiigh....

exactly- which means nothing since they close down recreational centers like bars restaurants gyms dojos etc BUT everyone STILL has to go to work. Go figure.

This is an aerosol virus (like other human coronaviruses). Restricting open air events will increase infections

It could be raining fire and brimstone and people would still be asked to commute to the office because in Japan, nothing is more important than staring mindlessly at a computer screen...or stack of documents while you await approval to sign on the dotted line...no sorry, stamp your seal in the little circle by Mr. X, Mr. Y., Mr. Z and Mr. ABC.

An enclosed space in the capital closed due to the virus… hmmm trust this minimized controlled numbers from Tokyo at your own risk, just cooking the books as always.

If that's what it takes to fight off the virus then it's for the best.

What about Coming of Age Day celebrations? Will they escape regulation?

I was all for strict lock-downs when they had the possibility to be effective.

This kind of, dare I say 'Quasi' measure will achieve nothing. Schools will be packed and not socially distanced, commuter trains roll on, companies and bars operate as normal, wedding venues are packed.

If you live in Tokyo. you are going to get Omicron.

These measures are designed to achieve one thing only; to absolve Government from legal retribution.

Did someone misread 'pandemic'?

Yes, a good and necessary move, because animals and pets are of course a potential cluster for spreading too. It’s not only the gatherings of people to watch them , but also that the animals get infected, develop and conserve massive virus loads and then give it back to human being visitors later again, a seesaw effect, that has to be interrupted strictly.

Meanwhile up to 1,000,000 people-a-day visited the Narita-san temple in Chiba.

It is possible that omicron being mild is because it spent some time in an animal host. A mouse has been suggested. A lab mouse, say conspiracy theories

This would be an unnecessary and overly complicated explanation to something that is already expected to happen, a laboratory escape precisely in the middle of a population with low vaccination rates? Animal hosts would not let the virus have a higher efficiency for the human receptor, that is simply much more likely to happen thanks to the millions of people being infected.
