“There have been revelations about connections between many ruling Liberal Democratic Party lawmakers and the group, with some ministers reportedly having received support during election campaigns.”

Too much corruption. Time for change. I hope the Japanese voting public comes to their senses at the next election.

LDP IS unification church, I don't like Trump, but time to "drain the swamp". Though I doubt that will happen. Japanese society allows too much bad actors doing bad stuffs for the sake of "maintaining peace", the education that emphasize "ganbaru" also helps the bad actors a lot.

It's a good ruling. And, I will add, a good photo. I am glad the family persevered.

And.. I agree that the LDP has done enough damage to this country. Time for some fresh ideas.

""Japan's top court on Thursday overturned a lower court ruling that had absolved the Unification Church from returning donations to the family of a late former member, deeming that a document the woman signed preventing her from seeking refunds was invalid.""

Thank You,

One thing I have learned in life is that JUSTICE will always prevail. No matter how hard or smart Scammers and Crooks try they will always FAIL.

Just another organized religion liberating people by subjecting them to contradictory rules and unfathomable dogma. They should be bled dry and then sued even more on top of that. But, then, name and organized religion that doesn't do that to its "flock".

Why must a Prime Minister be assassinated to make it known that organized religions are mafia?

That family and other members of U.C. should seeking compensation from the ruling L.D.P. as well, it was that party's political protection of U.C. above of prosecution that caused their loss of money and hardships!

I like the picture of the lady in front Crip walking.

There really needs to be punishment meted out to the LDP for mixing this religious nutbag cult with the national govt.

I can totally understand the frustration that Yamagami felt. The UC should be prosecuted.

LDP is the most corrupt Party in the history of Japan, yet people are still voting for them. /facepalm

Tragically, it took the collective sense of Japan to see the obvious: The Moonies were and are monsters. Don't presume yourself safe from them. The holy knocks on the door may happen any moment.

Moonies, "Latter Day Saints" (the Mormon cult), Seventh Day Adventists, Aleph (AKA Aum), Scientologists, and other cults in Japan should not be tax-free. The members should all be monitored by the state, and identities kept on a database.

Likewise, Japanese citizens should make it their business to be wary of all these cults and educate their children to keep away from them. Refuse all communication with them. Slam your door in their faces if they should visit.

Sounds fair. There's no rational reason a person donating something should volunteer to give up their right to take it back.

Even in the case of supposedly bilateral agreements it probably won't hurt to assume that any weaker party that gave up their right to refunds is not really doing this out of voluntarinism.

The only time such a thing might be justified is if the seller can enunciate a reasonable (say 5-10%, 15% tops) difference in price between a Sale with Refund and a Sale Without Refund, such that there is a reasonable prospect the Buyer has a choice.

Modern cult religions such as Aum Shinrikyo, Soka Gakkai, and the Unification Church are not necessary in the lives of the people.

They should not be designated as religious corporations, but should be subject to stronger crackdowns.

This is proof of the current problems in Japan regarding the separation of church and state, the corruption of religion, and collusion with politics.

The tax-free existence should be taken from all religions. From Catholics to Baptists and all other religions world-wide just as much damage and fraud and down-right dishonest fleecing goes on at too great a rate.
