well done!
i wonder if as a 14 year old, he gets the prize money or it goes to his parents?

A tad too much airtime/attention for my liking though. Last night NHK 9pm news spent the first 30-40min analysing the match, Fujii's career (again), what he had for dinner (!) etc.

I also watched the NHK 9 pm news last night. And the reporter said that Fujii ordered the bowl of spicy noodles with pork costing 950 yen. Yes, I read somewhere that noodles are his favorite food and orders during every shogi match. At any rate , he's a real prodigy. Very cool.

I wonder what young Fujii has to do to get promoted from fourth dan? If he keeps beating higher-ranked players surely his own rank should increase, but it stays the same.

@scrote, was wondering the same and the other day, if i remember well, they said Fujii needed another 70 wins to get to 5th dan!
I was gobsmacked as he's already beaten the older gentleman who's 9th dan and a few other 6-7 dan, i think.

The noodle bar owner must've been happy, said he sold out faster than pretty much ever for summer time. This genius kid has already accomplished something more impressive than I probably will over an entire career.

Maybe there should be a Shogi equivalent of the Elo rating system:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system
That way, it's an objective calculation of one's current ranking

I read in the paper yesterday evening that 100 wins are needed to advance from 4th dan to 5th dan etc.
