Time to close these reactors for good. I spoke with a nuclear scientist who designed these reactors some years ago. His advice, “the reactors are unsafe and should never be restarted.”

Instead of wasting all this time and resources trying to get back to the failed past, Japan should have spent the last ten years and the money in moving on to more sustainable solutions, the more so as it has enormous natural energy resources that are little used.

"""We have grave concerns about whether we can continue to operate the nuclear power generation business."""

Yes, and may be TEPCO should go into the Auto Salvage or Recycling business instead.

Agree with you both!

Personally I think the company should be scrapped

Great to know that someone is thinking correctly in Japan regarding TEPCO and its inability to function as a viable energy company.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

After several government reports clearly stated that reactor problems were caused by TEPCO's incompetence and management, they should have a spotless record. That they still have security flaws now demonstrates that they have complete disregard for regulations and safety and that management hasn't changed at all. They are the epitome of old style Japanese corporate arrogance and elitism.

No mention it is on a major active fault line that did major damage to No 6 reactor in the major Niigata earthquake a few years back?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

On one hand, Japan government must have approved TEPCO's decision to dump the radioactive water into the sea, on the other hand it is banning the latter to restart the largest reactor due to safety flaws.

What is going on?

If they have to "reshape the security mindset", it's a miracle that no reactor so far has blossomed like a cherry in the spring.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Confidence over common knowledge in this singular mindset.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Singular insular
