135 km/85 miles is WELL INSIDE Japan's waters.

Hopefully it is deep enough to make recovery impossible, like the MK43 1 megaton bomb in in the sea off Japan (109 km from Kikai Island Kagoshima) when an A-4E rolled off the deck of the USS Ticonderoga in 1965.

Given they cannot move undetected even in international waters near the Senkakus, the odds are heavily stacked against them just off of the Aomori coast.

I guess stealth is all good for avoiding detection by the enemies, but in times like these, Lockheed Martin probably wishes that they had a normal 'find my F35' mode that can be engaged during training.

Something no one has touched on is whether the other 3 F35 has any data they could share, because supposedly MADL enables F35s to track each other.
