Japan could never fight a war with North Korea

Hey looky, smith gets it right for a change! That's right, because Japan has no capability to attack North Korea because of the provisions of its Constitution, which has resulted in Japan being a non-aggressive and non-offensive player on the international stage for the last 60 years, something you seem to overlook in fixating on the past.

Only 3 nations care about this? Maybe Japan and it's master (the US) are being too paranoid?!

Japan could never fight a war with North Korea, and I don't think one's going to start anyhow.

Unless the rocket stage is ejected into a Japanese city, of course. This guy is a lunatic! As much as I feel sorry for the people in NK, but this loon needs to be stopped by whatever means necessary! He is only gonna get worse and he has very good reason to hate Japan for what Japan has done to Korea over the last two centuries.

You cannot possibly compare Iraq with North Korea. The stakes (and benefits) are completely different. The proximity of North Korea to China and Russia in itself is enough to put it in separate risk category from Iraq. The fact that Iraq was regularly (almost daily) firing on Coalition aircraft enforcing the UN-imposed No-Fly Zones is another. The list goes on and on, and naturally includes other key factors like oil and Israel. But I don't think it should be a surprise to anyone, including OIF supporters, that we went after Iraq first and not the DPRK and I also don't think you can fault someone for not saying now that we should have gone after KJI first, if we ever actually do.

NK is crazy, there's good reason to be alarm. The only reason China and Russia even acknowledges them is because they can agitate U.S., Japan, and S. Korea.

N.Korea is Communist China buffer zone. China is 60% responsible and Russia is 40% to it. The way to stop N.Korea is to let China know that it is unacceptable or else. How do you justify the tyranny committed by the dictatorship of N.Korea in making the country as the largest prison on earth? Conscience anyone?

And in large part due to war Japan imposed on THEM ever so long ago

There goes smitty again blaming the ghost of the Japanese past which is fine when he gets the "past" right. For the upteenth time, Japan was not at war with the Korean peninsula. Repeat. "Japan was not at with the Korean peninsula". Repeat again..

And in large part due to war Japan imposed on THEM ever so long ago. Besides, Japan could never fight a war with North Korea, and I don't think one's going to start anyhow.

Ossan: "North Korea is doing it's very best to achieve just that. Keep it up, North Korea may just accomplish what no one has been able to do."

No, North Korea has achieved that. Japan is overreacting in the extreme to justify doing the same. It's going to milk this event of everything it can to instill more 'Aikoku' in this country, and to up its defense spending and contracts with Lockheed.

But hey, it's interesting to see the Iraq supporters on here not saying something like, "We should have actually invaded a country that had weapons and posed a threat", especially on the verge of a launch of what could be a missile. Ah, but then there would have actually been a fight when you were not expecting one, and the risks therefore too high. Oh, and no oil!

But I digress. I still think people are making too big a deal out of this; I've had four "North Korea will soon launch its missile" TV alerts already.

North Korea has complained that the U.S. is using high-altitude U-2 spy planes and has warned the aircraft would be shot down.

Wow NK is kind of violent. But look at their dictator...he's a stark raving lunatic!

Spy satellites trained high-resolution cameras on a coastal North Korean launch pad. U.S., Japan and South Korea deployed warships with radar and other surveillance equipment in the waters near the communist nation—all for one of the most closely watched rocket launches ever.

Only three rich spectators watching this show with expensive binoculars.

The random advertisement under this article said "Korea -- You only live once!" Creepy.

North Korea accused Japan of inciting militarism at home to justify >developing a nuclear weapons program of its own.

North Korea is doing it's very best to achieve just that. Keep it up, North Korea may just accomplish what no one has been able to do.
