I must say this is pretty pathetic, throwing crap at the embassy? how immature can you be? jesus christ, and speaking of jesus, i don't think the religion means what they think it does, pretty sure the bible is all about forgiving your neighbor and being the bigger man? not being petty hate mongering crap flingers ^^;;

" Choi Jin-ho sliced his left pinky finger — twice — and hurled his own excrement at the Japanese Embassy."

I'm sorry I can't stop laughing. Only a Yak and a chimp in a zoo would do something like this.

Basically a bunch of lunatics who can't move on from WW2 despite the fact they weren't even born when these events occurred!

11 ( +15 / -4 )

Warriors fight by chopping off their little fingers and hurling excrement? Are they "the brave and the bold?" No wonder the two Koreas have been at war for more than 60 years.

A former philosophy professor and ordained pastor,

What was it that they say in the Bible about turning the other cheek and all that?

8 ( +12 / -4 )

Throwing his own feces like a monkey? What a self degrading way to protest.

the finger-cutting man, while he made the decision (probably not of sound mind) to dismember his own body bit by bit, he can't stop him for harming himself, despite reasoning. But throwing excrement is very unappropiate, non-humane behavior, animals do that.

The Mountain Man, he quit his job, made his wife works several jobs to make ends meet, all so he can walk around town, protests to protests, and while standing outside the Embassy, silently and occasionally singing, sounds like a very naive and selfish behavior which made his family suffer more so than his targets, Japanese embassy.

More so, several times a year, I read of such protests where the Koreans actually torture and kill innocent live animals such as pheasants, pigs and dogs. Such animal cruelty.

I've always said that the South Korean's would "cut off their nose to spite their face". They're just extremely emotional and you cannot count on them to be rational because of that.

Pity his poor wife!

Korean "c*ap" story again.

Some Koreans had a cr ap at the Mt. Fuji, and a Korean pe ed at the Yasukuni Shrine, and they have posted these on the internet proudly. This is far beyond my imagination.

This is really nothing new with Koreans. As the article says they're renowned worldwide for their demonstrations and has been so for years.

Mitch, you contradict yourself. On one hand you say that articles about lunatics are just asking for hateful comments, and yet you ask for an article about a Japanese girl shouting nasty things. What kind of comments do you think that would attract from the likes of you? You're asking for the very sort of article you are condemning.

Let him freely express his inferiority complex.

Just ignore him. He just wants his 15 minutes.

toshiko, it's just one or two lunatics who are persistent. Big deal.

But what about your thousands of anti Korean protestors with flags stating "kill all the coackroaches" that march every week? In fact, they marched right after they announced the Tokyo Olympics. This was right after they stopped marching temporarily fo three months while the Olympic city was being decided. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Chucky: Any protesters should learn how to use word processors to compose their wish instead of chopping off fingers or demonstrating. Maybe only two people but tthey lost their body part instead of letting enbassy employees to know what they want to tell. Fingers could be thrown away by employeees who thought chimpiras wanted to show they regretted their petty theft or something knowing chimpira customs of yubitsume. That is why I think they should write instead of sending chopped off finger. I don;t have thousands of anti-Korean demonstrators. Me? No, not me. There is no such demonstration in USA where I live.

Let's be fair. This is hardly representative of South Korea. Self-mutilation and throwing crap is pathetic and it would be an insult to children to call it childish but there are also head cases over here who've spilled their intestines in protest or thrown Molotov cocktails at a news outlet for writing historical truths. A knucklehead minority shouldn't be seen as representative.

Nice article! Made me laugh like crazy.

I think these Korean people would learn how to use a word processorr to explain what is their agenda. Not necessary with Japanese but with English so that they can appeal to the world. There are many Koren educated people who can help them. Otherwise their imitation old time chimpira action will backfire. Maybe they don;t have any agenda to explain>

I am a mountain they need to cross over, not a mountain they can move, Park said in a recent interview at his post across from the embassy. I want the Japanese people to see me and feel fear and know that they can't mess with the Korean people.

I feel nothing but pity for him. Maybe he has given up to survive in Korean society in any other way.

Fear? No way.

S. Korean Govt must be embarrassed now. It has been protesting diplomatically. This kind of action may influence USA helping S. Korea. USA is about changing its spending, mainly Military spending. Because Japan pay more than 2 billion dollars a year to let US Military stay in Japanese base, target of unnecessary base closing will be S. Korea. OK by Japan? Cut off ears and fingers. Embarrass their govt.

"He and other tenacious South Korean protesters compare themselves to warriors, and their demonstrations to a life-or-death struggle against evil."

Really, protestors calling themselves warriors?

Come on, these people aren't warriors, they are just plain nutz and very funny at that!LOL

toshikoSep. 23, 2013 - 07:42AM JST I feel sorry for Korean Japanese people who have been trying to get over various insult and discrimination by Japanese people. With this kind of action, they will face additional discrimination in Japan.

If by discrimination you mean folks finding the deranged, well deranged, then yes these bedlamites will be discriminated against.

I don't know about you, but I would not sit down and talk to these people, you can't talk to the mentally ill all you can do is medicate them.

Yubitsume? Chimpira yakuzass who did petty thef etct were punished with their little fingers chopped off. Years ago, they were thrown but custom changed and their chopped fingers have been kept in alcohol in a small jar with name tag on. Maybe they learned yubitsume by their former chimpira relatives. The action reveal their family roots. Otherwise the fingers would be in a alcohol jar. Maybe he is confessing his dingy criminal action? Don't they use wordprocessor to wirte message?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Why don't they move to Pakistan? They'll fit right in there.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Trying to justify the nonsense from either side should be below any decent person. The nasty, pathetic bile detailed here along with the human zoo screaming and grunting at non-Japanese in Japan should not find anyone outside of their unpleasant little worlds attempting anything starting with 'what about......?' Call it what it is - unpleasant little people giving decent people a bad name. Trying to score points drags you down to their level.

“I come here to wage war, with a soldier’s mentality. ... I am determined to suffer as a martyr if necessary,” he said. “It would be hard for normal people to understand me. This is my life’s mission.”

This sounds like what Koreans who purposely come to Japanese news sites (like JT) would say just to defend their "Korean pride". Right, Mitch and Chucky?

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Well... as crazy as he maybe.. at least he's protesting in front of the Japanese embassy, stating his political beliefs and not arguing for racial supremacy. And he's only hurting himself to boot (aka missing fingers).

But what about the Japanese hate mongers who march on streets of Tokyo and Osaka, shouting racist slogans, targeting civilians and children?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

@mrkobayashi - My apologies for the comment. I was being sarcastic in calling for an interview with the girl, because a feature story about the Japanese girl who called for massacre of Koreans would serve absolutely no purpose other than to invite abusive comments, and is not needed. Same as this story, which invited hateful comments about the entire nation of Korea based on a few lunatics.

Re: "From the likes of me" - Most of my comments are aimed at defending Korea when I feel that the story or the comments amount to an unfair attack on Korea. Korea gets called all sorts of names by some posters here, but I don't think I've ever attacked or name-called Japan in the same way.

@Chucky3176, have you seen the site Genjuro referred?

Koreans are professional protesters. Nobody could beat them.

Thank you, Genjuro! It was very interesting.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Why are the right-wingers in both Japan and Korea so crazy... It's actually really pathetic.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

What a lunatic, and an embarrassment to Korea.

But do we really need stories about these mentally disturbed individuals? Articles like this is just asking for hateful, abusive comments from readers.

How about an interview with the Japanese girl who called for massacre of all Koreans? Or with the manga artist who produces Korea-hate manga volumes?
