In mentality, it would seem you are correct, yet I'm under the impression there's a few (probably literally) USN or otherwise, regulars here though.

However, the US-2s are quite similar to the old PBYs used for maritime SAR, recon, bombing missions, etc. Although a two-engine aircraft, it was a very versatile aircraft. It is still flying today as a water bomber.

Those US-2s look good. Sturdy, can fly slow and seem to have a good rate of climb. Important for SAR in choppy seas.
