A wild boar on Sunday ran into the lobby of a hotel located in Kyoto’s Higashiyama Ward, which resulted in the minor injury of one male employee.
According to police, the boar showed up in the 2nd-floor lobby of the Westin Miyako Kyoto at around 10 a.m. while some guests were checking out of the hotel, Fuji TV reported. Employees managed to seize the boar with a sasumata (pole weapon) until police arrived. No guests were injured, but one 68-year-old male hotel employee was bitten on his right thigh and thumb.
A hotel spokesman said it was the first time a wild boar had entered the hotel premises.
Just before the incident, Kyoto prefectural police and members of a local hunting association had been searching the surroundings of Lake Biwa Canal, the city’s main waterway from Lake Biwa, after there were sightings of a wild boar swimming in the lake.© Japan Today
