A woman's body was found on the Tomei Expressway early Tuesday morning, police said. According to investigators, a man driving on the expressway toward Yokohama spotted the woman's body sprawled in the middle of the lane and alerted police.
Police said the woman, who was already dead when they arrived on the scene, was in her 60s. Her bag and shoes were found on an overpass above the expressway, leading police to believe she may have committed suicide.
However, police also said the condition of the body indicated that it had been run over and police are considering treating the case as a hit-and-run.

Someone is going to get done for this.
IF she jumped, then I would enjoy saying this: "You stupid inconsiderate woman, wrecking the life of some poor random driver just because you chose to do it without thinking, and at their expense. Grrrrrrrrrrr..........!!!"

Yes, drivers ignoring bodies falling from the sky must be hunted down by all means.

unless they have camera footage it would be mighty hard to track who did it.

Weird! Have to assume that she was hit after jumping and so an accident. although driving away afr=ter hitteing her would be a crime. Unless the driver just didn't notice (not entirely impossible)

That's what you get for making an 'invisible' expressway.

it should be easy to see camera footage at the exits and see who had marks on their grills or even launch a nationwide search for all vehicles that travelled that road for the last 12 hours. Its only a matter of time and I think the joker is going to come forward and say ... umm i felt something go thump but i didnt realise it was a human ... duh .... Might as well have come clean.

People ... people ... don't jump to conclusions here! It could be very well that she fell out of an airplane, or worse, out of a helicopter! Or she stumbled and fell off the overpass by accident!

they should find the guy who hit her so that her family will have to pay for repairs of his vehicle

Bag and shoes on the overpass. That rules out an accidental fall. Probably suicide but I guess it could still be murder.
How busy is that expressway "early in the morning"? It can't be that busy or the guy who alerted police would have had a bunch of help. The body may have been on the road for a few minutes or longer before he came upon it. I'm guessing the hit and run driver was drunk or close enough to it that he feared stopping. Even if he gets caught, he may only get charged with the hit and run if they determine she was dead before he hit her. (You can't commit homicide on someone who is already dead)

Perhaps they can read the license plate number embedded on her forehead.
Seriously, though, this is a great way to take a bunch of other people wiht you. Imagine if she'd hit a bus... what a selfish way to go.

Fadamor - it doesn't say where on the Tomei she was found, but the dateline is Tokyo and in any event the Tomei is ALWAYS busy, day and night...
