Life is precious. May the mother and child recover swiftly and completely.

Congratulations to the new mother and baby. Good work to all those that assisted.

Will she be fined for disruption like suicide victims are? I hope not but isn't the principle the same?

Noriko... might be a good name for the girl.

Congratulations and best wishes for the mother and baby. Thank you everybody else involved... including JT for starting this day off on a great note!!
Give birth - Wonderful event with timing that is largely uncontrollable and in this case may have caused some disruption to somebody's day. Still a wonderful thing.
Commit suicide - Terrible criminal tragedy that is planned with obvious disruption and no consideration for those trying to go about their day and certainly no respect for the drivers who have to witness the event.
Not really the same principle at all... except maybe there is a delay.

Wonderful news to read. As a proud father of 2, this makes me happy to see she was looked after. Giving birth on a train would have been rather interesting. Happy to see she has a healthy baby!

I hope cases like this will grow more in Japan. To remind everybody that life is precious, you dont need around 500000 Yen to give birth, to remind everybody how wonderful it is to have a baby and etc. A one baby born in Japan is far more worth than all the passengers salary who were in that train that day.

Wow! Exciting time on the Joban. Good to see so many people came to her aid.
Is Kyodo news employing translators from junior high school these days?

I sure hope so. Some of us actually have to pay to give birth, you know. What an inconvenience to the other passengers. First JR makes people wait all night in a train when bus companies and fire department offered to help, and now this.

She should of been off the train and on the platform. A lot people were delayed. On the platform emergency services could help if things went wrong.

It is a matter of big relief that woman had a normal delivery without any complications. God bless the little girl and those who provided timely help to the woman.

Indeed. I've used the Joban Line many times and I hope the passengers celebrated the happy event on the train with cans of lager and chuhai, jars of one cup and packs of dried squid. I hope the celebrations didn't wake up the passengers who were already completely bladdered.
Seriously, best of look to mother and baby and good show from the good people of the Joban Line.

Lovely news, this. Congrats to mother and baby, and thank you to all those helped. Love that the women stood around to 'cover' the scene, and that staff quickly came with a blanket to do likewise, as well as, of course, the doctor and nurse coming to the rescue. Well done, people. Quite the story for mom to tell the li'l one.
