Woman in serious condition after her car hit by train

A 37-year-old woman is in a coma after the car she was driving was hit by an express train on a crossing on the Hankyu Kyoto Line in Osaka on Thursday night.

According to police, the accident occurred at around 6 p.m. Fuji TV reported that the train rammed into the car at a crossing between Juso and Minamikata stations in Yodogawa.

The woman's 3-year-old daughter, who was with her, received light injuries, police said.

There were about 500 passengers on the train but none of them suffered any injuries.

A witness said that the woman who was driving seemed to have already been unconscious even before the crash.

Strange. I am a little surprised at the number of ground level railway crossings that are still in use here. almost non-existent in most European countries....

Railroad grade crossings are a MAJOR problem in Japan, where crossing accidents are pretty common. Why do you think every JR Group company and all the major private railroads are heavily investing in grade separation projects when the money is available?
